I know my town blows in most ways in which it is possible to blow, and in some ways which seem impossible. My sister lives in DC and she is always telling me about these great clubs/restaurants/shows/theaters that she goes to. It sounds like a pretty rockin' place to me. it's growing on me, to be honest. i spent a couple of years hating everything about it. too many lawyers and wannabe lawyers. too much poverty. ridiculously incompetent city government, even by city government standards. nightlife dominated by senate staffers. not much nightlife at all compared to nyc. not as much . . . anything as compared to nyc. jfk famously called it a city of northern charm and southern efficiency; he was pretty much dead on. but once i laid off the NYC comparisons . . . and admitted that there is still more to do in DC than i will ever have time to do . . . it's not a terrible place to live.

That sounds just like my transition to Philly. After I stopped comparing it to NYC and realized how delicious the soft pretzels are, I liked it a lot better. (edit: this is not meant to start up a heated NYC vs. Philly debate cause that never ends well. Both cities are lovely.)

Will from the Constantines remembers meeting me in Toronto and has guest listed me for the show here next Wednesday. Even though Joelle might not like them.XO WD Soooooo exciting! Have you seen the lovely Constantines poster on the Aesthetic Apparatus site? I chose to ignore her statements to that effect.

I've made amends with a girl i'd fallen out with last week, so I'm now happy.

I awoke to the news that Kids in the Hall are returning to CBC!!! Oh man, why does Canada all of the sudden become the most appealing right as America gets a president that doesn't make me want to battle more snow and elk?

How about a Kids/SCTV coalition? I'd be more than okay with that. Can we fit the Frantics in there too?

(edit: this is not meant to start up a heated NYC vs. Philly debate cause that never ends well. Both cities are lovely.) There is a constant debate of this going on at TCNJ.. it will go on forever. I agree that both cities are lovely... but Philly's better just kidding they both have great qualities. Philly is my home, where NYC always has something to entertain me, at all hours. Philly has the History Each has their things which will draw me, and that is that.

Presentations are over until the next round and I did a good job. Still hate it, though, even after 5+ years of three times a year. I'll bet I sleep really well tonight.

+The eggplant + black bean chili I made on Sunday was just as TOTALLY AWESOME as I thought it would be. +I bought myself a Lego advent calendar. +My layoff means I'm finally going have time to read all of those books I had to ship home from my office. +Basically all of December seems to be filling up with friends taking me out for sympathy layoff beers. +I'm still going on my sunny vacation in February. Suck it, recession!

+ I got two 2009 seed catalogs in the mail today and am ensconced in picking out new tomato and pepper varieties to console myself for not seeing any shows tonight. + I have an apartment with heat and the best best friends. + Even though we're supposed to get 5+ inches of snow starting at 6AM, my job is flexible enough that it's no big deal if I'm a half hour late. Or an hour late. + "The Weather" by Built to Spill, even though you never put it on a mix for me. Maybe someday someone else will.

My job is so flexible that there are people who often don't show up at all and yet still have jobs. Okay, this probably belongs over in the bullshit thread. Although when they don't show up I get more money...
