www.u2.com/Not saying it's a ripoff, but the whole landscape picture with a mathematical symbol thing does seem a little familiar.

I just don't care about U2. It's not that they're bad, but they release a staggeringly mediocre album like "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb," the world fucking flips out, and it wins album of the year? C'mon.
Then again, I'm no U2 fan to begin with--my favorite albums are "Under A Blood-Red Sky" (pre-"Joshua Tree" live disc, it's amazing) and "Pop" (the dance album it seems like everyone hated), and my favorite U2 song is (get ready to wince all you fans out there) "Beautiful Day." Yikes. Sorry.

urgh. u2. i don't hate them i just dislike the fact that bono thinks he is jesus/the pope/god. this isn't saying anything new and it's kinda dull to look at.
i am done now. i'll leave u2 alone.

I know. CLEARLY Craig Finn is Jesus, Tad is God and Bobby Drake is the Pope!
Not to mention Franz is Moses and Galen is teh Holy Ghost.
Bloody ignorant Bono.

Bono is kind of a silly-ass.however,the Edge, despite his lack of technical virtuosity,is a fucking sonic giant.his approach to guitar has been hugely influential.debating that point is a useless exercise.it is a self-evident fact.anyone who doubts me should look at their contemporary music collection and/or turn on the radio be it satellite or FM.there aren't many guys out there who haven't taken a page or two from his manual.besides that, his use of the studio(w/ Eno/Lanois)as instrument has been pretty influential as well.take a listen to pop music from the late 80's.a lot of it sounds pretty dated, especially from a production standpoint.but if you'd never heard Joshua Tree before today i doubt you'd peg it as a 20+ year old album.it still sounds fresh and that is a hard thing to do...just sayin'...you may now return to your Bono/U2 bashing...

Respect to drtpants.
Disrespect to anyone who blindly follows the comic musings of a man who suggests that he is part-troll, and accepts them as informed fact.
I don't have a personal problem with Bono. Even if I did, it wouldn't stop me loving their music.

i never said it was informed fact. i just thought it was funny. i apologise if anyone thought i was saying that that was cold hard fact from a funny man.
i think the music has become rather stale in recent years. yes, i admire their success, their impact on modern music and some of their tunes but it seems that they are getting a little samey to me. i don't hate U2. i have just become bored of them and their music.

i have never really cared for U2, i just dont really get anything out of a majority of thier songs. "sunday bloody sunday" and "one" are pretty good songs, but other then those songs the rest just kind of fall flat for me.
as far as Bono goes, he is kind of a pretentious dude, but he has also done a lot of pretty good work for people around the world.

Wow, evan, you have the exact opposite taste in U2 songs as me. :-) You'll be surprised how often you'll find that this happens...with music in general.

Bill Bailey always knows best. Most entertaining stand up that I have ever seen.

Seems to sound like the arrogance taking over for good... The Joshua Tree is an incredible album though.

I never said he was the best, but his brand of music/surrealist comedy is really good, he really knows what he is doing. As do the Mighty Boosh. The live tour they did with a DVD was SHIT. But their most recent one was pretty incredible (I was sat next to a guy dressed as Tony Harrison) Two comedians who I really want to see are Frankie Boyle and Reginald Hunter.

Is he the "Australian Bill Bailey". I think he is alright, but I didn't really dig it that much. David O' Doherty is a comedien who I rate really highly, you guys might like him uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi0LhopENCgI love this guy.

Is he the "Australian Bill Bailey". if you're getting paid by the word and want something snappy to say about him without having to think too hard or actually pay him much attention then yes, he is. he's pretty different, though...bill bailey's act is largely based around parodying genres, and tim minchin tends to concentrate more on wordplay within his own style of songwriting.
