These demos are rad, though I happily prefer the album versions by a longshot. One thing I wish Craig hadn't changed was the vocal melody at the end of the chorus on Wait Awhile - I like the demo version better. It seems like he nails the melody on the demo, but then sings what sounds like the harmony in a higher pitch on the record.
I do prefer the demo lyrics on The Only Thing, but the music and singing on the album version is so goddamn perfect that I can't even worry about it.

an accident at a plant that resulted in someone losing an arm. I've lost an arm and a leg for vinyl, more than once.

Does anyone know if the demos will be available in any other way - I'd love to hear them :-) Had no PC access through the pledge window sadly - would happily donate in some other way.

Look Alive demo is much better than the bonus track version. The better set of lyrics and just sounds alot nicer to these ears.

How about if we all agree with the band we'll let the record go and not have anything if more funds go to Jersey Mike's family? We'll settle for a couple more download demo tracks or something?

I've been really patient with this, but my partner, who ordered me a handwritten lyric sheet coming up on a year ago, is freaking livid. I don't really care about the hard copy of the EP or the laminate, but please, for the love of my relationship, ship me that lyric sheet so that I don't have to hear anything else about it.

Another record I ordered that was planned to ship in late June/early July is now shipping in September. Maybe that's when this will ship as well.

I can tell you for absolute fact, Craig is still knocking these out in spare moments. I don't remember the exact number he told me how many he had to write out, but I remember being stunned as he showed me the notebook and boxes of paper to make it happen. I have seen him doing them at sound checks, between photoshoots, and in the back of the bus when everyone else is still asleep. Again I remind everyone all of this, including the vinyl EP was for a good cause, not commerce. Yes, you are owed a return on your donation, but it is not worth anyone getting "freaking livid" over.

I am not freaking livid at all. I was just wondering if the EP was coming. In fact, the thread isnt even about all the other stuff so I do not want to get caught up in that.
Rich, was all the money to go to Mike's family or was some used to finance the album, marketing etc.? It doesnt matter to me at all to be honest....I mean 30 bucks is a round of drinks at a show....but it was a cool idea, and if there is come chance at seeing an EP it would be nice to know.
Once again this is not meant to be critical, and the money isnt the issue.

Rich, was all the money to go to Mike's family or was some used to finance the album, marketing etc.? It doesnt matter to me at all to be honest My understanding when the concept was originally discussed at the end of last year, the band would be donating their time, talent, creativity and effort into the fundraiser. Hard costs still had to be covered (engineer, studio time, production, etc.). But, other than that discussion, I have nothing to do with the business side of THS at all. I am just the guy who takes some pictures. I am just saying at times when I have been around, I can vouch that the band has it in the front of their mind even if the ball got dropped somewhere out of their direct hands.

My partner's livid (slight exaggeration, but he is pretty upset) because, while he didn't expect his Christmas present for me to actually arrive by Christmas 2013, it *has* been a pretty long time since the fundraiser closed.
I've been okay with the relative upfront nature of the group about the timetable, and I've really appreciated the demos that they put out. I'm sorry if it seemed like I was upset about the time stuff; I only meant it as a joke-y "naggy spouse"-type thing in that I'm tired about hearing about it semi-weekly. Sorry I touched a nerve.

I can vouch for the fact that the band gave of freely their time to play the gig at my house. The people from these boards that were able to attend can attest that it was epic and one for the ages,
I can also vouch for the fact that the K&L Foundation received a four figure donation off the back of that gig at my house and without the pledge campaign it would not have happened.
I know the trustees of the K&L Foundation massively appreciate the efforts of the band, their people and the Scenesters.

Seriously, I don't think anyone here (in the last few weeks--I can't speak for complaints coming before that) was complaining about the foundation or doubting the sincerity and efforts of the band.
That said, I do think my partner has a right to be bothered by having purchased something last November that will not have arrived by this September. But it's not a big deal! I'll be happy to get it when it arrives.
Chill out, guys.

It's not the band's fault, but people have a right to vent their frustration. Yes, we paid in part for a donation to a worthy charity, but some portion of our purchase went towards the making of this EP, which we were told would be delivered to us long, long ago. No harm in asking for updates or expressing disappointment with the entire process.

Brendan can continue to head up the Unified Customer Service Department.
I'll stick to taking pictures.
