I gave mine a good wipe down with an antistatic cloth, and as I said really very little noise.

Can anyone tell me if this is happening for the release in the states. My record player is out of commission right now and I won't be able to test my vinly when it (finally) comes in.

I'm in Canada and ordered from the US store. The record came in the mail today and it sounds alright to me, at least through the first few songs.

I received two emails from MerchNow: Suzanne replied: Hello John, We have received other complaints of this, and have received audio confirmation of this defect from other customers. We are letting the record label know of this issue and will have to wait to hear back from them on how they would like us to proceed. We will advise the customers as soon as we have a resolution. Have a great day! Suzanne Kulick Customer Service (518) 458-9563 ext. 211 MAR 26, 2014 | 01:11PM EDT Hello Olivia, Thank you for your email. I am not that tech savvy. However - please check out the link here - theholdsteady.proboards.com/thread/4637/teeth-dreams-gold-vinyl-noisy?page=1As you can see, a number of is are experiencing this issue. It is not an isolated incident. I look forward to hearing you as we try to arrive at a solution. Olivia replied: Hello John, Is there any way you would be able to send us an audio file of the playback for your LP? We typically request that our customers send us some type of verification if they are experiencing auditory issues with their media, so if you are able to do so, that would be helpful to us. Hope to hear from you soon! Olivia Customer Service (518) 458-9563 ext. 220

mrgoose, are you in the US? Just curious, b/c it seems like the defect might be isolated to outside the states.

I'm in Indiana too. I'll have to find a player to try it out on.
Could you please let us know what you find out. I wonder if it is all the copies? : (

Just here to add to the complaints re noisy gold vinyl here: got mine in the post yesterday - only had enough time to give it a quick spin to check out sound quality today and yep it's noisy alright, ugh. Going to drop the european shop a line and see what happens... I want to a vinyl to sound good, especially when dropping almost €50 on the bloody thing!!!! I hope my newbury comics signed CD arrives soon too!
That said I will bear no ill about getting it a few days later than the release date. Not great admittedly, but no big deal.

Eric, I hope you are right about vinyl reissues. I only need "Almost Killed Me" and I don't wanna pay $200 for it. Is anyone here having issues with the black vinyl of "Teeth Dreams"? Just wondering cause my copy is perfect. It's quiet and sounds great. Sometimes colored vinyl sounds bad I've noticed. It looks cool, but when you want quality, black vinyl is the way to go.

My gold copy is pretty bad. If I had paid $20, maybe I would suck it up but with shipping to Canada, I paid twice that. So I have lodged my complaint and am awaiting action :-(

The noise isn't too bad for me on Gold. I might invest in the aforementioned cloth to clean up a little bit, but it's perfectly listenable.

It might just be a clever illusion, but I always think clear and white vinyl pressings sound amazing.. Could be that all of mine just happen to be decent pressings, or as I said, it's all a trick.

When albums are pressed, vinyl in its raw form, is clear. The black color is an additive to make seeing impurities, like dust, dirt, and scratches, much easier to see. So one color of vinyl doesn't make it any better or worse than any other color (though an argument that clear vinyl would be best could be made). So if there's a problem with colored vinyl, it's likely due to pressing or mastering issues more than anything.
Picture discs, on the other hand, are generally inferior in sound quality and are more meant to be looked at than be listened to.

It's a trick (or at least it's not always the case). I got a clear copy of Whiskeytown "Pneumonia" which is quite possibly the worst new record I ever heard. My white copy of the John K Samson solo record on white was pretty bad too.

My gold vinyl arrived in Melbourne yesterday - choose to buy from the UK as the shipping was marginally cheaper than from the USA, wishing I hadn't bothered now.
I don't own a turntable, but I prefer to buy vinyl with a download code and like the collectibility of vinyl, so the noise issue is moot for me until I possibly buy a turntable later in the year; however I was pretty disappointed to receive vinyl with 3 inch split on the top of the sleeve - looks bloody awful. :-)
I've had loads of vinyl shipped from the USA and the UK over the last year and it's all arrived down under unscathed until yesterday. Pretty pissed off considering the disgusting postage charges.

Yeah, the corners of mine were bent up too and the slips holding the individual vinyl had some splits in them.
Has anyone heard from MerchNow regarding issue with vinyl. Haven't cranked mine up yet. Somewhat nervous. I'll try it out tomorrow if I can get my player back up and running.

Hi all - long time fan, but a first time post for me. First, the good news - I'd held off on the gold/yellow vinyl because of the news about pressing quality. Had an order in at Amazon (£12.99), which I assumed would be the black disc, but then they put back the delivery time to 2 weeks, so cancelled that and shopped around. Checked instore at HMV this morning and it was also £12.99. No mention of coloured vinyl on the front, but lo and behold, it's the funky marbled yellowy orange version! Bad news is the quality is awful - sounds like the LPs I pick up in charity stores before they've had a wash. It's just drying after going through the record cleaner (two cleans and a rinse!), so let's see whether that's improved things. At £12.99, it's almost tempting to keep it for the coloured vinyl, but it wasn't even close to listenable, so unless things have changed post-cleaning, it'll probably go back.
**UPDATE** No improvement after cleaning, so not dust/dirt/residue in the grooves. Just a genuinely shoddy mastering and pressing.

I finally got my deluxe box on Saturday and while I love everything I got in it, my gold vinyl also sounds terrible. I've contacted MerchNow (again) and waiting to hear if there's an update yet. I highly doubt the label will repress the gold vinyl again, but a logical solution would be to send anyone with the gold vinyl a copy of the black vinyl version as well. That way we'd get something that sounds good without much hassle...

I wouldn't know, I STILL haven't received any part of my deluxe package. This whole pre sale thing has been a massive disappointment.
