It's amazing that somebody who casually uses a word like "quotidian" does so with redundant phrasing. Song... song... songs. All in one sentence. I know the Springsteen comparisons get tedious, but whenever I hear "Sure some nights, she'll curse these clubs", I can't help but think it's the Bruce-iest Craig has ever sounded. Everything from the lyric to the vocal phrasing. The Boss would be proud. Didn't even pick up on the songs repeat haha. I agree on the Springsteen sentiment. I never really bought into the Springsteen comparison outside of the narrative styling, but during Stuck Between Stations, when the guitar came in heavy during the bridge, I always thought that was THS's most Springsteen moment as a band. After the last guitar line I always hear, in my mind, Springsteen bellow "In the parking lots the visionaries..."

Not surprisingly, his favorite cuts were Stations and First Night. I think that was what led him to choosing THS for the War Child - Heroes project.

I'm officially in love with Spinners. Frighten You --> Spinners is a pretty phenomenal 1-2 punch to open any record.

Got a promo copy of Spinners in the mail today. It's in a jewel case, featuring both the album version and the radio edit. It's been a while since I've looked this much forward to hear something in CD quality.

I am a sucker for an interesting time signature! What is the time signature for Spinners? Clicks and Hisses notes Curves and Nerves being in 6/4 time and Southtown Girls being in 7/4 time.
Hey! Think there’s at least two. Would hazard a guess the intro to each verse is 6/8 or something (possibly 12/8 due to the way the strings move) and then the verses are 4/4, with a bar of 5/4 before the chorus?!

WOW the acoustic versions of the songs here are rad!!! I strongly prefer the versions here of The Only Thing and Almost Everything to the ones on the album. The version of Spinners I like about the same as the album version. What strikes me about these versions is how the emotion of almost each and every line comes through so powerfully and the quality of the writing is highlighted. As far as Craig saying this album was a creative low, at least these three songs seem more emotionally mature than some of their earlier songs from a writing standpoint. If these are THS's creative lows, they would be creative peaks for most bands. Agree with some of the criticisms of the album though.
Wish they would release these versions of these songs (or some similar quality acoustic versions of the same songs), perhaps on the deluxe edition of Teeth Dreams whenever that comes out.
(Anyone from THS reading? ha)
Wondering if there are other acoustic versions people would recommend as especially notable? (maybe there's a thread or subthread on that topic buried somewhere on this board).
Great find! I've never heard "Spinners" this stripped down (the Daytrotter version is pretty similar to the one on Teeth Dreams.) There's a short set from around the same time on KDHX floating around too.
