Interesting to see the publisher splits when it's Finn/Kubler/Selvidge. Wonder how they settle on a percentage...

I got the email for "instant download" for preordering on Itunes. Wheres the instant download for those that preordered the LP?
Digging this song a bunch. Frighten You took a couple listens before I was sold on it, but now I like that one a lot as well.
2 for 2 for me.

A funny comment via facebook:
"I like them but they're a bit too quotidian and even repetitive. This song sounds as if they purposefully sat down to write a song that sounds like 60+% of their other songs."
Ok.

Someone somewhere back in 2012 noted this on Twitter ...
@craigtimes written 4 you? Nu Hold Steady tune "Look 4 the guy in the saddle shoes & the seersucker suit. It's been that kind of summer."
Never heard Rainbow, but maybe someone can confirm if it's a line in it? The nation depends on it.

Maybe these three tracks are download only tracks for people that pre-ordered the album and are waiting to announce that. I just hope those of us that pre-ordered the album in some form don't get screwed out of the bonus tracks.

I remember (faintly) that Craig said something before playing Rainbow at the Pier 26 show in NYC this summer about them having two songs about horses, Rainbow was about the cowboy.
That being said, I was on some pretty strong painkillers that concert because of the lovely sling I was sporting... so this could be entirely made up in my head.

i'm wondering if they might be interspersed throughout the LP. if that center label in the video is accurate, and there are roughly 3 songs per side, it's totally possible that the vinyl release will have bonus tracks mixed in. and i like that idea a whole lot.

That is an excellent idea. The more I'm hearing the new songs, the more they're growing on me.

that delay is too much for me; Craig's lyrics are the primary draw of the band for me, so I'm very sad to not be able to hear all of them on a first listen Spoiler Alert: probably want to stay out of the Guitar Nerd thread... If you're unable to decipher the lyrics, I don't think it's due to any of the decisions we made sonically. Streaming audio is a cruel mistress. There are all kinds of variables to contend with - from low audio sample rate and dodgy file compression to the rapid decline of fidelity available in todays consumer audio products.

Loved this from the off...taken along with Frighten You there seems a real connection sonically – if that is that the right word? – between the two. So I'm thinking, hoping, that the whole album has this feel. So while each song is great in isolation, when played as an album you get something much bigger and brighter and wider in scope.

It's my sincere belief that, should "Spinners" get traction in the current landscape, it could be the band's "Dancing in the Dark."
In your hearts, you know I'm right.

If the vinyl has bonus tracks, I hope the download includes them. It stinks when a download sequence doesn't match the vinyl

Watched in the form of lyric video through ethernet and it was a much more pleasant experience (also: external soundcard + studio monitors, which is definitely overkill for the situation). Cheers!

Man, I had the exact same reaction to "Frighten You". "Spinners" brought me around pretty quick. The guitar sounds are so fucking good that I forgot about my quibbles with the vocal production.

A funny comment via facebook: "I like them but they're a bit too quotidian and even repetitive. This song sounds as if they purposefully sat down to write a song that sounds like 60+% of their other songs." Ok. It's amazing that somebody who casually uses a word like "quotidian" does so with redundant phrasing.

It's amazing that somebody who casually uses a word like "quotidian" does so with redundant phrasing. Song... song... songs. All in one sentence. I know the Springsteen comparisons get tedious, but whenever I hear "Sure some nights, she'll curse these clubs", I can't help but think it's the Bruce-iest Craig has ever sounded. Everything from the lyric to the vocal phrasing. The Boss would be proud.

Streaming audio is a cruel mistress. There are all kinds of variables to contend with - from low audio sample rate and dodgy file compression to the rapid decline of fidelity available in todays consumer audio products. It might be sad that we've come to this, but I have to say: It was such a pleasure to hear the mp3 versions of the two songs. They are way, way better than the streamed versions. I guess I should be talking about a CD or vinyl version, but right now I'm just so happy that the digital versions sounds as good as they do. That bam-bam-bam, bam-bam-bam guitar part at 1:23 is just perfect.
