This will probably be a big year for Beatles reissues. It's their 50th Anniversary of coming stateside.

They just reissued all of the Beatles albums like last year.... I'm talking about the "US Albums", like "Meet the Beatles" from '64. There is a box set that just come out last week, but there is talk about limited singles and whatnot for RSD

I really really want that vinyl copy of the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World video game soundtrack and Xiu Xiu - "Unclouded Sky."
Devo/The Flaming Lips and The Cure/Dinosaur Jr. spits would be nice too.

I want the fancy edition of the new Pixies record so bad. If I can't get it, no sweat, I'll buy the regular one. But the limited one would be nice.
Also I hope that Songs:ohia 7" set isn't too pricey

Also kinda fancying, but probably won't buy: The Husker Du 'Candy Apple Grey' LP, Gloria Jones 'Tainted Love' 7", LCD Soundsystem 'Live the Final Show NYC' LP (only because it's a 5 LP set and there's no way I'll be able to afford it), Ray Parker Jr 'Ghostbusters' (despite my allegiance to Huey Lewis), Villagers 'Occupy Your Mind' 7". And I'm kinda tempted by the Jay Z/Linkin Park 'Collision Course' LP 'cause, y'know.. It's pretty good. Here's the full list: www.recordstoreday.co.uk/media/28699/RSD%20Product%20listing.pdf

I'm most excited to pick up the return of Bis with Data Panik Etcetera. It's been too long... Also the Oasis Supersonic reissue. You can't own a great record too many times!

The Taang Records first 10 singles and the DJ Andy Smith's Jam Up Twist USA boxset both of these have me kind of pumped. will have to hope i can gather enough money by then. RSD list seems a little less stunning this year though.

I think RSD is a nice thing and creates awareness for small businesses that can always use the promotion and media exposure. However, let's not forget these good folks, many of whom struggle to make ends meet weekly, need your support the other 364 days of the year too. New "collectibles" are fine and all, but don't forget the real simple pleasures of the world of record shopping. Grumpy clerks that have forgotten more about Can albums than you could ever learn, musty record covers that vaguely smell of weed and good times gone by and most of all, locating a true, rare treasure like .... :: Guided By Voices "Propeller" :: That being said, here is a piece I shot two years ago of Patterson Hood about RSD :: Mercy Buckets & Record Store Day ::
Not that you don't, but I always like to remind people when the soapbox is there for the taking - support your favorite bands directly, support your local record store just as much!

i have an extremely love/hate relationship with RSD. i hate the price gouging, the forced rarity, the ebay vultures, the lines, the irritation, all of that. but i like records. a lot. and i like cool, limited records from bands i like. i just hate having to try REALLY HARD to get them and knowing that they'll be twice as expensive as they'd be if they were released at any other time during the year.

ah nuts, i forgot about that dawes split. maybe i can grab that later. i got pretty much everything i wanted. the REM set was my main priority. i passed on the dresden dolls 2xLP mostly because i ran out of money, but also because i figured that, out of the things i wanted, i might have a decent chance of finding that for a reasonable price later on. also passed on the songs: ohia 9x7" set due to price. and i think that material is getting issued on an LP soon anyway.
