I lost three (3) auctions on Ebay last night for Lifter Puller CDs. That's gotta be a record?

having the records is totally fun, but you can save yourself a lot of dough by purchasing F+F and soft rock for download.
and waiting for the awesome-looking anthology.

Let's all pray that "Bitchy Christmas" will be on it. How did I know you'd mention that one? I'm starting to think that song never really existed in the first place... it's a macguffin... Personally, I'd love to see the footage from The Jenny Jones Show turn up... that, and pictures of the Halloween show in pirate costumes.

I NEED THAT SONG!!! The footage of the Jenny Jones show would be so awesome! They did "Kool NYC" right? From City Pages, 2/17/99: All the same, you and the FCC should tune in to NBC this month when local noise-meisters Lifter Puller appear on the The Jenny Jones Show (no one at Jenny Jones could confirm an air date yet). During the taping a few weeks ago, the band was asked to play something a little less abrasive than the sexually suggestive "Roaming the Foam," settling instead on "The Bears." Sounds cuddly enough, but the song's an ode to big bearish men and the men who love them. The talk show's theme the night of LP's performance: stripper wars. According to my research thus far, the show aired March 1, 1999 in syndication. Here's the log line from TVGuide: "Stripper wars" and LFTRPLLR... and I missed it because I was being a good student and not cutting class during my senior year...

Where is the best place to get Lifter Puller music in the UK. I got F&F from iTunes.
But I really want the rest, especially whichever album has that song which Sunny D did the youtube music video for. That song was killer.

It's £14 for Soft Rock on Amazon Download store. Which is a lot for a digital album.
Is it quick to register to Napster/eMusic?

i have no idea, haven't done it for ages. £14 isn't too bad considering the price of the cd! but i paid a lot less than that for mine. emusic are offering 50 free downloads right now...
someone should check that LFTR PLLR are still available there, though. anyone?

Last I checked, Lifter Puller is still available on eMusic. However, it's only disc one of Soft Rock, so you may still have to track down disc two.
That said, eMusic might be the best overall music deal out there. I spend maybe twelve bucks US (about six pounds UK) and get my pick of all manner of great indie, jazz, classical... it's pretty sweet. All of the Merge catalog is up there, for example, and they've got an exclusive Hold Steady show from the Almost Killed Me era featuring an early Bob Drake performance.

I decided to get it off play.com It was costing £.29 per track. And I already have a play account. And 320kbps is quite nice.

I NEED THAT SONG!!! The footage of the Jenny Jones show would be so awesome! They did "Kool NYC" right? I spoke to Steve, after a November show in Minneapolis, and he confirmed that "Bitchy Christmas" will not be on the compilation-dealie. I spoke to Tad, in August, after a show in Mississippi, and he was already then leaning in the same direction. We'd corresponded for about two years regarding the song, at that point, and he acknowledged yet again that a tape did exist, but that he hadn't been able to find time to get his mitts on it. I was skeptical. Steve, like I said, then confirmed that the song is around, but that it's so embarrassingly bad that the people associated with the band don't ever want it to re-see the light of day. Said that it was written and recorded in basically a matter of minutes, and that it's the worst song I've never heard. I stuck it to him for you, in particular, Sunny D, but he seemed unrelenting. On the good side, though, he said that the Jenny Jones footage has been retrieved and that it will most certainly be included. He also mentioned plans for a montage/biography-type documentary. I got the impression that he didn't mean a full-on film, but rather a short-and-sweet kind of thing to be included as a bonus feature. He said that footage from other live gigs was also around, and that it'd wind up on there, too--probably incorporated into the docu-thing. So, there you go!

Okay, I'm pissed off. The download from play.com kept getting interrupted, and now says maxiumum downloads reached. I'll ring them up on Tuesday to sort out the problem, but if they're unhelpful douches could someone just send me the album over MSN, otherwise I've wasted £11.

For those of you looking for lifter puller CDs, right now on ebay there are Half Dead & Dynamite and Fiestas + Fiascos CDs at reasonable prices. Also, for the completists out there, there's the Slips Backwards/Nassau Coliseum 7" - $135 anyone!!

Okay, www.play.com , decided to leave me on hold for 3 mins and I put the phone down because I don't like losing money. I should have got it off amazon.co.uk for 3 quid extra, Play give you 4 downloads of each song, and each download cut out when I tried it. I'm so fucking pissed off cos I need this album! Any ideas?

Let's all pray that "Bitchy Christmas" will be on it. Nothing to get excited about yet, but I may have found someone online who has a cassette of "Bitchy Christmas." My friend knows him from some other board, put me in touch, I've contacted him, waiting to hear back. So far, no dice...but it's more promising than anything I've come across so far.
