It's kind of cheating because it's the second disc of a two disc album but...
Drive-by Truckers - Southern Rock Opera Disc 2 - Let There Be Rock/Angels and Fuselage

Every single time! EVERY TIME I tell someone about this album I never forget to mention that it has a perfect opener and closer. I love how they just throw you right in to it from the beginning.

To me Candy's Room always felt like it should be the opener. Not that Lonely In A Limousine is a bad opener, its just Candy's Room seems perfect to me.
But for some reason I always call it Nice, Nice by mistake.
Don't be too hard on me, I'm a LFTR PLLR noob

not sure if these will go down as some of the most extraordinary songs ever, but they're some of my favorites:
-THS, all
-Bruce Springsteen, "Born To Run" (Thunder Road/Jungleland)
-The Replacements, "Tim" (Hold My Life/Here Comes a Regular)
-MC5, "Kick Out the Jams" (Ramblin Rose/Starship)
-Clash, "London Calling" (London Calling/Train In Vain)
-The Hellacopters, "High Visibility" (Hopeless Case of a Kid in Denial/Envious)
-Murder By Death, "In Bocca Al Lupo" (Boy Decide/The Devil Drives)
-Reverend Horton Heat, "Liquor In the Front" (Big Sky/The Entertainer) *Big Sky is possibly my favorite album opener of all time
-Social Distortion, "Sex Love Rock and Roll" (Reach For the Sky/Angel's Wings)
-Old 97's, "Too Far To Care" (Timebomb/Four Leaf Clover)
-Ryan Adams, "Gold" (New York New York/Goodnight Hollywood Blvd)
-New Radicals, "Maybe Someday You'll Be Brainwashed Too" (Mother We Just Can't Get Enough/Cryin Like a Church on Monday)
-Weezer, Blue Album (My Name Is Jonas/Only In Dreams)
-Get Up Kids, "Something To Write Home About" (Holiday/I'll Catch You)
-Too Much Joy, "Finally" (You Will/Underneathe a Jersey Sky)
-Bedford, "Smiles Are the Batteries" (The Sound and the Fury/Sleeping With My Friends)

Weezer, Blue Album (My Name Is Jonas/Only In Dreams) Only In Dreams is a veyr underrated closer. That guitar build up is pretty epic. On YouTube there is a cover of Ash playing it live and they play it almost as good as Weezer. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bzgmOqFZGnM

against me!- new wave (new wave/ocean)
if i could've chosen, i would've been born a woman. my mother once told me she would've named me laura. i'd have grown up strong and beautiful like her, and one day i'd find an honest man to make my husband. we would have two children, build our home on the gulf of mexico, our family would spend hot summer days on the beach together. the sun would kiss our skin as we played in the sand and water, and we would know we loved each other without having to say it. at night we would sleep with the windows of the house left open, letting the cool ocean air soothe the sunburned shoulders of our children.
oh, man. best closing verse ever. so gutsy.
edit: also, bright eyes- lifted (the big picture/let's not shit ourselves) belle & sebastian- if yr feeling sinister (stars of track and field/judy and the dream of horses) lucinda williams- car wheels on a gravel road (right in time/jackson) the strokes- is this it? (is this it/take it or leave it) fugazi- red medicine (do you like me?/long distance runner) the distillers- coral fang (drain the blood/death sex) the gossip- movement (nite/light light sleep + the hidden track with just the noisy electric guitar and beth singing notes, but no words) sleater-kinney- dig me out (dig me out/jenny) jawbreaker- dear you (save yr generation/unlisted track. the reissue bonus tracks are good--and well-placed--too.) against me!- reinventing axl rose (pints of guinness make you strong/8 full hours of sleep)
