Im a huge marvel fan. and Deadpool is my favorite.
i started this so we can state our favorite heroes anti heroes and villains.
and maybe argue and hero vs hero outcomes.
this could be fun

i dont read much, but i've been getting back into it. i'm hooked on Y: the last man and irredeemable sandman is (as far as i'm concerned) the greatest series ever written

After reading this I might have started casting Holly, Charlemagne, Sapphire, and Gideon as spandexed caped heros. I might be proud of my brain for doing these types of things for me.
Also we have had a comic thread somewhere back in the day. Right now I'm goin through Buffy season 8 whenever I see a comic book store (so I'm about 3 books behind). Great stuff for a TV series to comic book translation. Also the new Infinity Gauntlet series is pretty good too. Written by a guy that started in sprite comics so it's sillier than regular DC style.

I haven't been reading anything new recently, but I'm with you nerds. Snap. Had to cut back on the comics a few years back to pay for my gym membership - yeah a shockingly out of whack set of priorities from me... ;D Used to really enjoy a lot of Vertigo titles, along with a wide selection of more indie stuff. Shit, I'm getting all misty eyed, thinking about reading through Previews for all the cool stuff that was coming out in the next three months!

the nearest comic book store is like an hour away (and it is awesomely called yukon territory. idk why i love that name). my dad and the owner are bro's so i get some nice deals. like the whole marvel civil war series (7 books with limited production of singles and an alternate cover) for like 300 and they are already worth 330 as a collection. and only a few years old.
the civil war series really makes you realise the asshole ironman is.

I'm a former Superhero comic fan. I still pick up the occasional Vertigo tpb. I love Y: The Last Man. Still need the last two trades and of course I love Watchmen.
Superhero comics got too interconnected for me. I loved Green Arrow, Justice Society and The Flash and I was quite content just sticking to sticking to that little corner of the universe, but lately it's been major crossover then fallout from the crossover and then setting up the next one. With that cycle each book as lost their distinct personality (which they had pre-Identity Crisis, which was years ago) and they all feel samesy. If they set out to tell a good story without having to "Change the way you look at the character" story after story, I'll go back probably.

the last 2 Y trades are the most intense! i couldnt put them down
i'm not big on superheroes, but irredeemable is really great. its about a superman-like hero giving up on humanity, losing his mind, and taking his revenge on his old allies. and everyone else. it works because it doesnt flinch or pull any punches. some parts are pretty brutal and uncomfortable and chilling.

Tell me about it. Once I got to college, my money dried up and I got hardcore into Y the summer before I started college. This summer, I'll probably get the last two trades and I'll have a marathon read. It's what, 60 issues, right? That sounds like a good weekend to me!
See, that sounds cool. It's not superheroes I have a problem with in general. It's the direction that the publishers are taking them to push comics. For a while, there were some pretty great stories with a lot of personality in the books. They were their own entity. Now they all feel like they're written in a back room somewhere by a bunch of big wigs. They're sterile.

i'd say definitely check out irredeemable. it's really refreshing and an amazing deconstruction of heroes.
Y ended at #60. i only know this because i just recently finished it, and the number 60 was all over the last issue. there's a scene in the last one that actually made me tear up.

I'm a major comic book nerd, but haven't bought anything for a long time. I think my last was a few of Adam Warren's 'Dirty Pair' series.
Been playing Batman: Arkham Asylum all week and the little snippets of back-story you get have me craving more, so I'll be trawling for comics tomorrow in Leeds. As someone already said, I wanna get on some of Grant Morrison's Batman stories.

While out in Leeds this weekend my inner-geek raged to the surface and I scoured the comic shops for an afternoon. Picked up Batman: The Man Who Laughs and Superman: Red Son. Not a huge Superman fan but this one looks awesome!

the ending to neonomicon was pretty awesome! horribly bleak, though. i guess that's par for the course with alan moore. would it kill him to write something at least a little cheerful?

I've fallen deeper into the rabbit hole, and am currently halfway through Marvel's amazing Civil War stuff. I'm blown away by it, and it's surpassed all the expectations I had when I picked up the TPBs that led up to the event. If Avengers VS X-Men is this good, I'm going to have straining shelves by the end of the year!
With DC's New 52 I saw a good excuse to pick up some things I wouldn't ordinarily read, and after the first 4 issues of Batgirl I think I might slightly love her a bit, haha. Brubaker's Fatale was a great read too, if you like noir/crime stuff!
With webcomics, I've read Questionable Content religiously since I was in university, and I was so glad when it went daily! Ctrl + Alt + Del is funny if you're into gaming, and Least I Could Do is pretty fun, but the constant references to Red Bull bring out my inner cynic - feels like the guy wants some sponsorship deal haha.

and if you look at Jamie McKelvie's Spotify, he's saved at least one THS playlist... it's all connected if you like random Mountain Goats references in your comics, read Casanova by Matt Fraction too
