So, I'd heard the name but never heard any of this band's stuff until a couple of days ago when I watched a live performance on pitchfork and frankly was blown away.
My question to any Superchunk fans out there - where should I start?
What album should I get first? Any live downloads you'd recommend?

I'd go with Tossing Seeds, personally. It's a great overview of the band's early singles, including "Slack MF."

Slack Motherfucker is the best superchunk track of all time (IMHO) on their S/T 1st album.
I agree that tossing seeds and On the Mouth are both good albums to start with though :-)
The new album Majesty shredding is pretty good too.

I really like blasting their Majesty Shredding on vinyl. I'm working my way back through their catalogue as well.

Concur w/ On the Mouth... best of the actual albums... although it was the preceding No Pocky for Kitty that hooked me initially.
The second singles compilation, Incidental Music, is also pretty great, and is culled same relative period in the band's release history as On the Mouth. Would get Tossing Seeds first though...

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'll go with Tossing Seeds first to get an overview and move on from there

Tossing Seeds is a great place to start...but if you're more of an album-oriented person, I'd strongly recommend "No Pocky For Kitty", which features a few tracks that made it on to Tossing Seeds.
Their new album is great too...but I always prefer to start from the beginning when discovering new music

Majesty Shredding is my favorite album of 2010. It made me remember how much I used to dig them. Saw them in Chicago a couple weeks ago and they're still fantastic.

Are you a Scharpling & Wurster fan? I only got into them maybe a year ago and have been OBSESSED ever since.
