I also just wanted to add one after thought - the whole Jeff Buckley for Xmas no.1 thing (although I treasure the JB version of Hallelujah) was really about sticking it to X Factor in general. Because people like Simon Cowell roll out these performers, and it's all about money and there's no heart or soul. And this is the stuff that is being played on the most listened to radio stations etc. in the country, while bands that are passionate and are putting everything they've got into their music just because they bloody love doing it don't get any coverage, or at least mostly not on that scale. It's all a bit sad really, and it would be nice if talent shows like X Factor would sod off so that music that is actually meaningful could wiggle to the forefront on a more regular basis. But then again, maybe some people are genuinely touched by the music of Girls Aloud et al. Or maybe not. Maybe we need bands like that so that everything can exist on some kind of spectrum. I don't know, I am not good at philosophising and such like, hence why I don't often start these kinds of things But anyway, at least we can all agree that we all like The Hold Steady and probably some other bands too, and I am quite sleepy and should probably go to bed soon

Girls Aloud isn't music which touches people, but is more fun music, which you can have a good time dancing to, which is equally as important as touching someone.
I hate that xfactor takes all the fun out of christmas number one. Normally you want to see which novelty single will be no1, but now we know xfactor is guarenteed it. (Except this year...hopefully)
