The newest album is an improvment, but still a really average album.

*shudder* Around the Sun was such a god awful album the current album isnt much better. just because they started to "rock" again doesnt mean they are great again. my biggest disappointment this year. even when i saw them live they were just going thru the motions. Sorry I always feel like I have to defend Around the Sun as I do actually like it! Admittedly it doesn't rock but I think some of the songwriting is very good and even if the album is over produced the songs are much much better live. With Accelerate they tried to get some of the old spontaneity back and I think went some way to achieving that.

i have two songs that always take the edge off that "everything absolutely sucks and i feel like nothing will be right again" feeling:
"the ballad of el goodo" by big star "like dylan in the movies" by belle and sebastian
i am not sure what they have in common... they just work

i have two songs that always take the edge off that "everything absolutely sucks and i feel like nothing will be right again" feeling: "the ballad of el goodo" by big star "like dylan in the movies" by belle and sebastian i am not sure what they have in common... they just work this kind of makes me love you, heidi. if you're feeling sinister is one of those albums that can always calm me down when I need calming down. and big star is just incredible.

i have two songs that always take the edge off that "everything absolutely sucks and i feel like nothing will be right again I go with "How a Resurrection Really Feels" for that duty, the ending is so uplifting. "Sink.Florida.Sink" is also helpful in that situation.

"When You Smile" is the perfect Flaming Lips song. If, however, you are not in a relationship and listening to the song very bummed out, it can kill you.
