I can't back "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" since it was on Guitar Hero. Gonna have to go with "Sympathy for the Devil" The Who...no "Baba O'Reilly" ?? sheesh. Elvis Costello didn't write that song so even though it's awesome I wouldn't choose it. "Radio, Radio" is my pick. Mountain Goats. ... something NEW? not "This Year" or "Dance Music" or "Jenny" or "Best Ever Death Metal Band..." ? REM: you must just like name dropping. "Nightswimming" is my pick. Bob Dylan...now who could argue with that? I also really like "Mr. Tamborine Man," though. Bruce Springsteen..."Rosalita"...hands down.

Guitar Hero has some pretty good songs, and for the Stones it's a 3 way tie between Don't Stop, Sympathy and Knockin'. Knockin's solo wins it for me though. I love Dance Music by Mountain Goats, but I think the opener of Heretic Pride is really string There are so many REM songs I love; Frequency, Nightswimming, Drive, Crush with Eyeliner...

R.E.M. - "you are the everything" (seriously, 'end of the world' is your favorite REM song? have you listened to anything else by this band?) Yeah big REM fan; Drive, Nightswimming, RFE, and Low were all contenders but It's the end... has sentimental value; childhood memories of my dad playing it in the house all the time and me dancing around like a loony. I just love the pace of it, fast lyrics (I can do 3 verses then I can't keep up the pace) and the overall sense of fun in the song.

The Smiths - Isn't How Soon Is Now obligatory? uh, yeah if this is the only smiths song you've ever heard... Oh it is on. However, your having the good sense to choose Big Dumb Sex mitigates the offense. I got my Moz card at point of origin, and while I can't slam anything by the Smiths (there is no You Know My Name level of WTF'ery with them) I will maintain that HSIN sums them up much better than TIALTNGO. The object of his affections is unaware, yes, that's required Smith's reading, but HSIN takes it to the core level of the band - I'm alone, I don't want to be, but I have some bitching guitar work to keep me company while I mope and by the way, I really do want to be alone with my self inflicted problems no matter what mixed message I send you, kthxbai. Entry level indeed. Pfft. Entry level might be Half A Person. Not a bad song, but mannered live or studio. Nothing transcendent. The Magic Numbers didn't feel confident enough to tackle HSIN, did they? Oh, but they felt TIALTNGO was within their reach.....
