My brother got me into The Beatles, Dylan, CSNY, Simon and Garfunkel and a host of other 60's band. My first concert was Bob Dylan at MSG - The Benefit for Hurricane Carter and I returned the favor a few years ago by taking him to see Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson at Montclair.
It paid to grow up in the 60's and have an older brother who went to Woodstock.
And Clinton thanks me for getting him into Willie Nelson.

just succeeded in turning my sister onto fucked up. awesome. in a similar ballpark, have you heard beestung lips? they're from brum, ex-members of knives, play kind of fucked-up-esque rock'n'roll post-hardcore and are really, really good. i saw another brum band called fuck right off last night who were really impressive, too; i'm not sure if you'd be into it because they're pretty weird but i think they're worth a listen...it's kind of like straight up hardcore only without any guitar distortion so it's sort of got this cool '60s garage vibe like shitty limits.

My parents got me into the Rolling Stones. It cost them a fortune, but eventually Jagger gave in and I took over from Brian Jones on guitar. My parents were upset when I bailed out just five years later pleading crippling heroin addiction.

Great topic. And Alice's Restaurant. Who was that? It was like a Christmas/Thanksgiving tradition. We'd listen to the entire nine hours of it every year. That's Arlo Guthrie, son of Woody. Arlo was my first concert ever - I was seven. Comin' into Los Angeles Bringin' in a couple of keys Don't touch my bag, if you please Mr. Customs ManThat's Los Angeleez.
