Still my favourite version (Tom's original excluded, of course) of The Wire's brilliant opening: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1ABR4UpDSUIf you don't like The Wire, I don't like you. Simple as that.

i can't believe there has been no mention of Jan Hammer and the Miami Vice theme song, i thing that tops my list, then in no particular order...
Different Strokes The Odd Couple The Facts of Life Yo Gabba Gabba The Wonder Pets
I don't much watch t.v. anymore so i have no idea about new theme songs, film and telly as a medium are a bit lacking.

Good topic.
Jamie And The Magic Torch - pulsing guitar, Steppenwolf style vocals. A Helter Skelter in the video. It's no wonder I grew up a metal head.
Best covers
Spider-Man - The Ramones Theme From Cheers - The Wildhearts Wayne's World - Aerosmith
Oh and obligatory mention to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop Dr Who. The 60's version. Far fuggin' out.

King Of the Hill is probably my top.
I did make a little music video for the Diff'rent Strokes theme song but YouTube took it down. That was fun.

I'm really partial to Freaks and Geeks, but some of that has to do with how cute James Franco is in that show.

I don't know about favorite, but here's a few that groove, each in their own way.
Now that I've completely dated myself this one I'm not old enough to remember the actual show that well, but it's the best TV theme EVER IMO.

Welcome Back Kotter
I loved that show as a kid and could listen to that song, and enjoy it, if it came on in any context. Just reminds me of being a kid or growing up in the seventies or something. And I still love the whole show opening.
