I almost forgot--before I found the Replacements, and then Husker Du, and then the Hold Steady, there was ANOTHER Twin Cities band that had my allegiance.
Did anybody listen to these guys? They had three amazing records, two charting singles ("Freak" and "I Still Love Rock & Roll"), basically they looked like Kiss and sounded like Van Halen and Cheap Trick. "Volume" was one of my top albums of 2001, and I still pull it out all the time. They haven't done anything since 2003, which breaks my heart into pieces (and their subsequent bands have been pretty forgettable). I figure, seeing as there are plenty of Twin Cities denizens hanging around here, maybe someone else shares my obsession.

That'd make sense--they were signed to Art Alexakis' label, and he produced their third album.

Was listening to Lifter Puller Radio. Heard quite a few good Twin Cities-based bands, namely Walt Mink and a really great song by Balloon Guy called '"Welterweight". These guys never popped up, unfortunatly. Cool band ! I likes ! Thanks for the heads up. BTW, here's a Walt Mink, aka John Kimbrough sire with some wicked mp3 d-loads. " Little Thing" rips it up. Good stuff. www.waltmink.com/mp3.html
