Just noticed these on the "Songs Craig Finn has sung on" sticky.
Are these originals? I pride myself on being pretty up to date, but I've never heard of these before...

Definitely not in Iowa City. Midnight Hauler was the rarely heard at that show.

There was a taper in Pittsburgh. That said, since it hasn't surfaced after this long, I have doubts we'll hear it. Great song though, can't wait for a recorded version.
Does anyone know if any of these three (Midnight Hauler, Sharp Cross, or Gideon's Conversion) were recorded for Stay Positive?

I've heard that they did record a studio version of Midnight Hauler.

fn said 8 bonus tracks were recorded. So far, 5 have surfaced, which means 3 are still out there.

I couldn't remember it was 8 or 9 tracks left over from the SP sessions. Sounds like perhaps, we know what they are now.

I have a hunch Gideon's Conversion is off the NEW album.

7. Sharp Cross? 8. Gideon's Conversion? Nope. I don't think the other two SP songs will see the light of day for a while.

I have a hunch Gideon's Conversion is off the NEW album. I'd agree with you, due to the lack of character name references on Stay Positive, except for "Adderall," another bonus track, which references Gideon, Charlemagne and Holly. So, I think this rule may not apply to non-album tracks. I've got a feeling at least one of the two songs in question is a bonus track, if not both.

"Gideon's Conversion" was played in South Lake Tahoe earlier this year. It was introduced as a new song and honestly didn't thrill me (that may change). Speaking of that Tahoe show, I'm about to post some video (didn't take any of the new song though).

The titles "Gideon's Conversion" and "Sharp Cross" just sound so damn interesting.

They opened for the Stones that summer.

They played "Adderall," "One for the Cutters," "Joke About Jamaica," and "Stay Positive" during that tour, and I seem to remember you making a note about "Two-Handed Handshake" being played at soundcheck, Ben.

They also played Magazines, Sequestered in Memphis, Lord I'm Discouraged, I'm pretty sure. Great damn tour.
