Not lame at all.
Just be 100% sure!
There is a thread buried here somewhere with lots of everyone's ink on.
I have the Stay Positive logo and "We are our only saviors" on my back.
Edit - see page 2 of the general board "I got a tattoo"

I have a baby Stay Positive one on my ankle, it was my first tatt, days after I turned 18. I'll get a better, less lame one though in the future.

I have the cardinal on my inner left bicep, in full colour too! Bright reds & yellows. I have some lyrics on my inner forearm, not Craig lyrics but lyrics all the same; I don't necessarily think lyrics are corny. Except maybe, like, 'Don't Stop Believin' or something.

I have a traditional diamond with "stay positive" in a banner on my upper right arm.
Get whatever lyrics are important to you. Or work with some lyrics and find an artist who can draw something that you love. That's what I did, and I love my tattoo.

Haha
Honestly, if I saw someone with a "Don't Stop Believin" tattoo I'd pry buy em a beer.
I'm thinking about getting either "Love and Trust and Friends and Hammers", "I was a skeptic at first, but these miracles work" or "To me they're just some guys who got some guns"

Yeah jokes aside, what jessicalyn said - get whatever's important to you. What I always find crazy about tattoos is how much we care whether or not other people like them. We're all guilty of it really, otherwise we wouldn't care what they looked like and we wouldn't get good artists to do 'em!
If anyone ever says they don't like your tattoo, or don't get it, or think the lyrics are corny, then just reassure them that it's a good idea you didn't get it for them.

Amen to that.
As I have said on here before, my tattoos are for me!
(actually I got into quite an argument over it once, with someone who's no longer on here!!)

I plan to get a lyric of somekind but it needs some serious mulling over. For now though see my profile pic (which is my forearm, despite repeated cases of people thinking it's my leg).

i am a big fan of tattoo culture and am a tattoo collector myself, with a few hold steady inspired ones. i have stay positive written across my legs, as well as "gideon," "charlamagne," and "hallelujah rest in piece" written on my shoulder, ankle, and thigh respectively. i love tattooing and if it means something to you, and you will cherish it forever, go for it!

Also have the Stay Positive logo on the back of my calf.
Frank Turner has my favorite THS tattoo, which is "Damn Right I'll Rise Again" on his lower back.

So I think I was on the boards back when but after an absence this post caught my eye. I got "Killer Parties Almost Killed Me" tattooed on my arm. This pic is obviously from right when I got it.

Did a bit of housekeeping here and merged the existing tattoo thread with the current one. So you can track the history of tattoo work through the years. Enjoy!

Reviving this thread to say that, after 10 years of sitting on the fence, I finally bit the bullet and got it done. Hesitated for so long partly because people think band tattoos are lame, partly because the SP logo isn't exactly the most original, but I realised that I didn't want it to be original. The Hold Steady is about community, and the SP logo is the clearest emblem of that. And fuck it, I just think it looks cool. Oh, and four days later, UK shows are announced over my birthday weekend for a second year running, the next day I book tix for all three nights. I'm taking it as a sign that the ink was meant to be! Love you all, can't wait to see a few of you next March.
