so when i turn 18 im getting a stay positive tattoo, but i was thinking of also geting a marionette without the doll and the words "there's strings attached to every single lover" what do you guys think? well , since you asked... imho - I think it would look better to have just the plain wooden kind of marionette... y'know no facial features or colors - just wood grain look and instead of the words maybe have a red heart on the chest of the marionette... and keep in mind the bigger the better ! my 2 c

Honestly man I think that's a pretty cynical tat for an 18 year old. Someday some girl is going to hurt you and you're gonna look at it and your negativity will be reinforced. Then later some girl you love's gonna look at it and ask you what her strings are. You'll tell her "none, darling, I love you, you're different," then she'll roll her eyes and then you'll probably fight. I dunno, I personally just wouldn't get something that is a reminder of the pitfalls of love. But that's my personal take. If it makes you happy, and has a different meaning, then go for it.

well the meaning of the picture, for me, is equality. that we all come from the same base. that is the string and marionette symbolism. and as far as the lyrics, just fits the picture.
but bloody, im really digging the mannequin (butchered that word) with a great big heart. if possible, sketch it up for me? i'd be eternally gratefull. i only have a few months to go.

HAHA - Dude you would definately not want me drawing anything that will be a permanent part of your body. Not my strong suit. But finding the right custom artist will take care of that for you. Take your time researching portfolios and find the perfect person to do it.

i have already found the person. i know this one guy about 20 miles from my house who did alot of my friends tattooes and they are amazing. maybe i will give the drawing a whirl. it will take me a very long time though.

Maybe the guy who will be doing the work could draw it up. You should def talk it over with the artist first either way.
Just find the right picture for the puppet on the good ol' internet. Adding the heart and strings should be a piece of cake.

Nice. I'm itching for some more. Everytime the young lady comes home and shows me what she did in work I'm like "ok honey that's great, can you tattoo me already?"

I generally think people should wait until 23 or so, or at least get settled into their lives to get tattooed. It's true that everyone's different, some people mature faster than others, etc, but in general, most people don't know enough about themselves at 18 to know what they're going to want the rest of their lives. i don't necessarily regret the things i got when i was 18-19, but they're taking up room where i could put things now i'd actually appreciate the rest of my days.
i knew a guy who was straight edge until he turned 21 and found out how much fun drinking is. he got "never say never" underneath his XXX tattoo, it looks pretty ridiculous. i realize the piece altogether tells a story of his life and if you're fine with that, so be it. i just know there are a bunch of things now i wish i could get on my arms because they'd mean a lot to me, but there's no room.
just one man's opinion.

That's very fine indeed. Lovely colour in there.
I'm jealous - I've been told I mustn't have any more!

Pffttt to that. I have about four more planned but not the funds to go ahead yet. and I always prefer to have Japanese tarts in Japan, that takes a bit more saving...

No problem.
Thank you for appealing to my juvenile 16 / 42 year old brain by making me laugh myself silly - Japanese Tarts. Love it.

Glad to be of service. X
John, the image of the band who would name themselves Japanese Tarts is not a good one. Girlie, pseudo pop punk = Blah....

Hey All
Luke here. Pretty new to the boards but have been a heavy duty fan since the beginning. I feel like I've been missing out a lot by not being part of the online community though. Any way, my question is this. I'm thinking about getting a THS tattoo. I remember seeing a thread on here of people that had some art (the ship with the squid was the coolest), but I'm thinking of getting a lyric tattoo, maybe even something from Craigs solo stuff. Does anyone have lyrics tattooed on them? If so, what lines? Is that like, a lame thing to do or not?
