The only way that could be more awesome is if your arm WAS a whisk!!!

So, I'm not around these parts much these days, and I do mean to change that sometime, but if y'all will still accept me.. Here's my latest offering. 5 & 1/2 hours, Ami (my girl, as some of you have met) from State Of Art in Swansea (http://statetattoo.net/) was the artist. Turned this: into this: I am absolutely chuffed.

I love the way the shading came out, those 'eyebrows' came out perfectly. Really good tattoo artist you found there.

I initally read that as she did the drawing on cardboard, I should have known that as your medium. That makes it all the better! She is great.

Love Stringer's picture and Ami's superb inkwork.
On the morning of getting this done, I asked Mr Stringer if he would be taking a break during the impending SIX hours of tattooing....and his reply?
"Only if I get hungry"
Chris Stringer - skinny but tough.

Tough Man Stringer, but thats half the fun right? Being able to put your mind elsewhere and dealing with the pain. Tattooing wouldn't be fun or addictive without the pain. Or is that just me?!

All depends - on where on your body, what your pain threshold's like etc
My tattoos on my upper arms didn't hurt anywhere near as much as the one at the base of my neck, but then I'm very good with surface pain (even stitches) but like a three year old with anything internal, like toothache - typical man!.
All I can say is be very, very sure what you want and "it hurts but it's worth it"!

Yeah man, "it hurts but it's worth it" definitely applies! My inner forearms didn't hurt, my inner bicep didn't really hurt so much, and the ribs definitely hurt. Think hard about what you want - I'm still undecided on a THS tat, thought about getting "we make our own movies", but I'm still thinking about it, because you gotta be certain it's what you want!

I generally avoid getting things like names of bands , names of girlfriends, etc... as you just never know how you might feel about said band or girl in ten years. But if your sure thats what you want , then go for it ! My first two pieces were on my chest , after that arms and legs are easy peasy. Also keep in mind that picking the right artist is just as important as picking the right artwork. For God's sake don't just walk into some shop and get inked without doing some research first.

I'm right there with bloodystereos - and I can't believe I forgot to say - that you need to find a good artist. Do some research, check out their portfolios, their online galleries (if they have them) etc. I mean, it's easy enough for me to spot where not to go because, my girlfriend is a fully professional tattooist - so I've learned a hell of a lot from her. What to look out for, quality of linework etc. Ami's advice: "go check out the different studios' work, their portfolios, in-house and online, and pick the place/artist with the style and quality you think is best - crisp, clear lines, good colour, and mainly consistency in quality work. For example, f you're looking for a graphic tattoo, look for somebody who's good at graphic work. Make sure they have a variety of quality work - they're obviously going to show their best work, so if someone's just showing old-school work, they're probably not that versatile." Ahh, the joys of having a tattooist girlfriend
