I've heard so many good things about Alejandro Escovedo, and will have an oppurtunity to see him at Bonnaroo this summer. Where would you recommend starting with him?

I've heard so many good things about Alejandro Escovedo, and will have an oppurtunity to see him at Bonnaroo this summer. Where would you recommend starting with him? normally, i would recommend starting at the start from someone that i really like and work forward but "Real Animal" is amazing. i think pretty much all of his work is unbelievable though. a lot of his earlier work has been re-issued and are now double disk sets. i would go with "Real Animal" then get "Gravity" and work your way through his catalog. "By the Hand of the Father" would be the last one to get. it is a theatrical piece. it has stories, spoken word.... but you can't go wrong.....

1. Red wine 2. Hostile, Mass. I am least familiar with AKM, and for some reason have always missed the E-Street Band-esque sax solo. How did I miss that? The song is amazing. 3. 30 Rock. Hilarious, and possibly better than Arrested Development. 4. My dogs 5. Getting excited (well, as excited as I can about a festival that is headlining Counting Crows over THS) for Basilica Block Party. I'm bringing my brothers, who have never seen a THS show despite the fact they are fans. I plan on getting there early so we can be near the front. I can't wait for their reaction to the show - their minds are going to be absolutely blown (like mine after my first THS show.)

3. 30 Rock. Hilarious, and possibly better than Arrested Development. NO! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE 30 Rock, but nothing, absolutely nothing is better than Arrested Development. nothing.

I LOVE Arrested Development, but perhaps the fact that I so identify with Liz Lemon pushes 30 Rock over the edge for me.
Did you see Apollo, Apollo a couple of weeks ago? The ending, with Liz in the phone sex "singles line" commercial? 1-900-OKFACE. That's not even enough numbers! I literally almost lizzed. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Understood. I did see that. It was funny. Very, very very funny.
I still maintain Arrested Development is the best.

I usually try to hook people into 30 Rock by comparing the two. They are similar in that both require multiple viewings to get every joke in the episodes.
I rewatched "Mr. F" the other day, and that final scene with the investors is just killer.
