Wow, what a kind, gentle, passive beheading. I think Judith did a good job of it...and she didn't need to keep her hands clean with some big long ax, and didn't have to hire some guy to manage it. She just got her knife out and did it without making a scene. Caravaggio captures it best, as always:  And, Gentileschi was so inspired by Judith's quick and brutal work, and still maintaining her good looks, he had to do two paintings. Putin has nothing on Judith.   Botticelli was also twice inspired by Judith. Judith says, "Yeah, I killed him, and now my maid will walk his head through the countryside."  And all the men cry, which is what happens when a woman decides to do what needs to be done, gets a general drunk, and kills the bastard.  |
