Mike, I'm glad that you could love it even with the intensely non-vegetarian-ness of it all! This is what I wrote on my journal about Heston, for those who didn't watch... We watched Heston Blumenthal create a Victorian-inspired Alice in Wonderland feast. It was so amazing!! There were test tubes of "Drink Me", incorporating the flavours of toffee, buttered toast, turkey, cherry pie, custard and pineapple, mock turtle solid tea in the form of a pocket watch, an entirely edible garden (including pebbles made from potato, soil made from olives, and real insects), and risque absinthe jelly! It was completely mad and completely wonderful. Heston Blumenthal cooks like Gaudi designed buildings - with a fundamental understanding of the basics, but with the ability to transform that into whimsical, heart-delighting concoctions. Favourite things today - 1. bagel for breakfast 2. Heston Blumenthal, still 3. The sun is shining 4. My calendar of antique maps 5. Chocolate spread. It goes with (nearly) everything!

Mike, I'm glad that you could love it even with the intensely non-vegetarian-ness of it all! i thought that going turtle hunting simply to make the point that turtle's not particularly delicious after all and he wasn't going to cook it was a little gratuitous, but generally speaking blumenthal's enthusiasm and inventiveness more than makes up for the fact i could barely eat any of his food.

Did they just leave them behind?
I got a washing machine at this house and a wardrobe at this house. Well, we paid £50 for both. The tenant couldn't be bothered removing them - it's a double wardrobe and quite big, and the washing machine was a couple of years old. Still, we benefited from that! I wish someone would just leave me a flatscreen tv. Nearest thing I got was at my last place, I'd arranged to buy a bed from the previous tenants, but they also left behind a desk and a coupla bookshelves.

Hence, if *someone* were to trip into one such flat screen at a party and, uh, maybe knock it off its mount, then it'd be no blood no foul. Right? depends on how much *someone* values his face.

I've now changed my mind - I don't mind SO much finishing the writing off. But if he'd like to correctly format my footnotes, that'd be swell. Damn footnotes. I think I have around 600, and they all need to be checked. ALL OF THEM. *dies a little*

so, like... three pairs of mittens? or do you have three hands? where do you put the extra mitten if you're unfortuante enough to only have two hands?
