Why does everyone keep assuming they're not coming to the UK? Look through this thread, a massive chunk of the fan base are from here. THS, and Franz, always seem to love visiting the UK so I think it's highly improbable that they won't come. Then again I've been wrong once on this thread. It is a matter of economics. As I said before, there is nothing new to promote and sell so there would be minimal income outside of ticket sales. Now, assuming you could even get enough promoters/venues interested to put something together overseas for a band who has not been together as a touring outfit in nearly two years and has no new music - try to figure out how many shows at what ticket price and what attendance minimums would be necessary to cover: roundtrip trans-Atlantic flights with luggage overages for a band of six and skeleton crew of three, lodging and food for these nine people, wages for these nine people who probably want to be paid at least what their current home jobs do at least, rental equipment, ground transportation, fuel, a driver, manager fees, publicist fees, tour booker fees, etc etc etc. Remember there is no record company to front this money before one dime of ticket revenue is paid out. Now, who's credit card do we want to put this on? Bottom line, unless Noel Gallagher or Johnny Marr are on the THS email list and they call Tad this week and ask him and his band to open a run of shows, I would not hold my breath for THS in the U.K. this year. Again I only offer my opinion because I think this 6 day ramp up to an "announcement" has unfortunately stoked the excitement levels of many fans a little too hard. Take their statement "playing a limited number of live shows this fall" literally and hope it parlays into something bigger in 2017 or 2018. Does the math change if it's a festival gig(s)? Just trying to keep it pretty positive for our friends across the pond.

I'm guessing the "limited" part of this means we won't be getting any shows south of the Mason-Dixon. But Frontier offers super-cheap flights to MPLS and NYC, so there's no way this run will be too "limited" for me to see it.

As I recall, Franz had a pretty big stage footprint when he was in the band. If he came back, it'd bring new meaning to "you gotta admit the band's pretty tight."

This has been incredible to follow these past few weeks.
I normally wouldn't nitpick, but I think you enjoy the details so here goes: I don't see how One For the Cutters fits in with a 33-year-old Mary and a faked death - unless there's some metaphors that I'm not seeing.
It's pretty clear to me that the girl in OOTC is college age. She's "getting good grades", she goes home for Christmas, and she's allegedly a "sophomore accomplice."
And OOTC is describing more than a police investigation - it's a full-on criminal trial. The girl "takes the stand" and provides testimony. Even the most zealous DA wouldn't charge anyone with murder (or obstruction of justice, I suppose) when there's no body, no weapon, no assailant, and only rumors that someone got stabbed.
Am I forgetting/missing something?

Just finished listening to Craig's appearance on this podcast: wfpk.org/guestlistshow/Of note, Craig says that when he finishes touring on FITF, he intends to take five days off and then start on another solo record. So, not looking great for a THS show in 2016.

Just for a second, there was a post on the THS Facebook page showing all of the guys in Santa hats and suggesting we should prep for a surprise. A couple of people in the comments mentioned something about Chicago. Now it appears the FB post has been deleted.

This is troubling indeed. I'd actually been thinking about it after seeing the photos from the Lifter Puller show. We've known that these guys aren't super rich - they have to work to make a living. And we've known that Craig and Tad are still willing to make a living by going on the road and playing music. And I think we can assume the best way for these guys to make a living playing music is by playing THS shows (I'm assuming, but admittedly I don't know what Courtney Love pays her touring guitarists). And now we know that Craig wanted to continue, but some folks didn't want to do anything with THS for all of 2015. The only reason a rational person in the band decides not to play THS shows for an entire year is if he dislikes the material or the people enough to forego the financial opportunity.

Fair warning also, these posters are each only 18x24...I believe the original BAGIA poster was a good bit larger than that. Or at least I remember reading that somewhere...

I saw Craig open for Jason Isbell this past week in Jacksonville. During the set, Craig mentioned that he would have a new solo record coming out "in a couple of months." I didn't see any confirmation of that on here, so I thought I'd share.

If Jesus is a nickname for Charlemagne, then this works as a meeting with Charlemagne and Gideon.

There's a line in "Runner's High" that describes someone as "prancing all around like some Kansas City clown."
Is "Kansas City clown" a reference to something? Nothing's jumping out to me.

I wonder what Craig will be doing while Isbell plays the Shaky Boots thing in ATL May 15. Hopefully doing his own show someplace nearby...

SAPPHIRE FOREVER! Also, I am surprised that Modesto is getting so much hate. I was in California for Thanksgiving and stopped in Modesto just because of the song. The city was not exciting, but being there and listening to the song was glorious. Here are my most beloved songs, aside from the esteemed Sapphire: Southtown, Party Pit, Weekenders, Multitude, Weekenders, Our Whole Lives I really like relationship narratives, and BAGIA is magical. Songs that don't do it for me include: Navy Sheets, Jamaica, Magazines I guess I don't really understand Magazines. Is it supposed to be ironic, like "You Can Make Him Like You?" When guys go for looks, and girls go for status, guys end up dating the girl in "Magazines."

It's a real life "After the Scene Dies" by DBT, except with an Urban Outfitters instead of an Old Navy.

Interesting question. A related question (I think): can anyone confirm where the quotation marks are actually supposed to be in the song? The THS wiki has it as
So that's the "she" saying the whole line. I had always assumed the "I blew red, white and blue right into a tissue. I came right over the counter just to kiss you." part was the Narrator telling us what he did in response to the girl saying "My name is Robbie Robertson but people call me 'Robo.'"

A few random thoughts about my massive night. 1. Had a great time pregaming with Glen, Luke, Marty and Jessica at the Billy Goat Tavern and the Kaiser Tiger. We had an Almost Everything moment when the bartender at the Kaiser Tiger asked where we were playing that night. He didn't mistake us for Pink Floyd, but at least he mistook us for a band. 2. The best thing about "Death & Memphis" was arguing about whether it was actually two bands, "Death" and "Memphis," and then arguing about whether "Memphis" is a terrible name for a band. 3. That said, I kinda felt bad for "Death & Memphis." They gave it their best shot, but everyone was just waiting for them to finish. 4. Agree with what everyone's said about this show. Epic. The coolest part for me was the fadeout of Killer Parties going into Constructive Summer. 5. Thanks to Luke and Marty for closing down the Lincoln Park bars with me after the show (my flight home didn't leave until 7 AM, so I had some time to kill after the show ended). 6. The Unified Scene and @theunifiedscene (sup, Brendan) are the best. So funny to turn my phone on Saturday morning and see thid text message list filled with new numbers, all with different area codes. People touchin' people that they don't even know, yo. 7. Still had confetti stuck to my tub this morning.

Any idea why they've singled out this show with the hashtag? If it's going to be some sort of epic, marathon show, I may have to drain the bank account and fly up there.
