Thanks in advance.

My favorite moment started with a Positive Jam, the first time I put on Almost Killed Me.

Nice review. I didn't notice Rob in the mob scene on the floor of MHOW, though!

I always thought this one would work for THS:
Drunken Angel by Lucinda Williams
Sun came up it was another day And the sun went down you were blown away Why'd you let go of your guitar Why'd you ever let it go that far Drunken Angel Could've held on to that long smooth neck Let your hand remember every fret Fingers touching each shiny string But you let go of everything Drunken Angel
Drunken Angel You're on the other side Drunken Angel You're on the other side
Followers would cling to you Hang around just to meet you Some threw roses at your feet And watch you pass out on the street Drunken Angel Feed you and pay off all your debts Kiss your brow taste your sweat Write about your soul your guts Criticize you and wish you luck Drunken Angel
Drunken Angel You're on the other side Drunken Angel You're on the other side
Some kind of savior singing the blues A derelict in your duct tape shoes Your orphan clothes and your long dark hair Looking like you didn't care Druken Angel Blood spilled out from the hole in your heart Over the strings of your guitar The worn down places in the wood That once made you feel so good Druken Angel
Drunken Angel You're on the other side Drunken Angel You're on the other side
Sun came up it was another day And the sun went down you were blown away Why'd you let go of your guitar Why'd you ever let it go that far Drunken Angel Drunken Angel

I'm in, with my buddies Jim and Austin and Bob. Clear some room against the stage for us!

And LOVE the Cheap Trick references in the last verse "Heaven Tonight" and "Black and White in Color". Jim Carroll and Cheap Trick, and in between lies..... The Hold Steady!
Friday Night coming down...

Rumor has it that The Hold Steady will be playing at Life in Ardsley NY on April 2nd, at a birthday show for The Peak 107.1.
This is a great venue, sort of like a Chuck E. Cheese for adults.
Not announced yet, but I have it on good authority.

Cake - Would love a copy of Multitude. I was there too, nice show. It was presented as sort of a NYC version of Prarie Home Companion. A definite Middle Western States feel, Klosterman from North Dakota, show host Sam from Minnesota too.
Here's a summary of the plot of the show: "This month promises an interview with the band and Klosterman, two intimate performances by The Hold Steady, and Finn and Kubler starring in the murder mystery radio-play as two bickering brothers on family vacation with their step-father Chuck Klosterman. When they make a pit stop for drinks at a small town bar along the way, they get fingered for a murder they may or may not have committed."

I took this one yesterday to show a friend.. He has legs now and is standing on his own, but I already had this handy: Wow! That is super creepy! Awesome artwork.

It's looking like a Hold Steady themed ALDS, as the Twinkies follow our heroes success story, making the big move from Minneapolis to the bright lights of New York City. Although, I don't think the Twins will make it to Brooklyn!
As a loyal Mets fan, Go Twins!!

They had ME at "Positive Jam".
I tell the people who would really get into them to start at the beginning. If you can't see the joy of Positive Jam going into The Swish, they're not for you. BTW, the first show I saw, at North Six in Williamsburg, they opened with PJ and TS. Perfect.

Joey Miserable and The Worms were a R&B, Funk, Rock, Rockabilly band that was based in NYC's East Village in the 80's. Anyone who remembers them, remembers how much fun they were, and how they would rock the joint every night. They were my 80's version of The Hold Steady, the band that I would see every chance I got. Here is a link to a number of videos that I found on an old VHS buried in my basement. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=joey+miserable&search_type=&aq=0&oq=Joey+miser

Wow! Those look like the hottest shows of the summer. Did you see some of the douche comments about last night's show on the Brooklyn Vegan page Heidi linked? Were those people at the same show I was at?

Sooooo much joy! Great show. Almost got dragged under by the undertoad a few times, but the US watches out for everybody! Losing glasses must have been a theme, the guy next to me lost his for a while. Everybody cleared away, and I found them only slighty destroyed at my feet! Too bad we couldn't join the band for Killer Parties. So much joy, and so much sweat!

Due to people cancelling, I've got two tix for Monday's WRXP show at Irving Plaza. If interested, leave me a message. Face on tickets is $36, make it $35 even and I'll eat the LiveNation fees.
