There's some discussion of this going on elsewhere, but it probably rates its own top-level thread, so... -- The extra backing vocal on "Constructive Summer" is really weird. Not sure what's up with that. I don't notice any unfamiliar parts on the other tracks. Yep, as I mentioned in the other thread, these aren't on the vinyl edition, so it seems to be a weird mess up. Agreed on so much great stuff for us Unified Scene-ers these days. Loving every bit. Jack

And Chicago 6-15-17 is up! Loving this. Hope it keeps going for a long time.

Ok. Even weirder. Got the vinyl today (yay!) and the extra vocals aren’t there. Seems like someone messed up the digital files?

So, they seem to have added some additional backing vocals from Ben Nichols on the new Stay Positive deluxe version of Constructive Summer. Definitely a deliberate decision that makes it different than the original. What does everyone think? Still getting used to it over here.

Agreed. The highlight of my drives to work these last few days. Sad that tomorrow is the last one! Kudos to the team that put this together.

Oooh, I like lists too. Been listening to these 6 tracks a lot this week. Finally seeing some live helps and I think Entitlement is a live staple for sure.
1. Entitlement Crew 2. Star 18 3. Esther 4. The Stove & The Toaster 5. A Snake in the Shower 6. Eureka
Really, 2-5 are interchangeable for me. 1 is a clear favorite, and 6 is a clear non-favorite. After that, I like them all. Star 18 may be my favorite lyrically.

Fantastic show.
They always amaze me how strong they come out of the gate after some time off.
Might be the only one I get to this summer. Best friends, setlist full of deep cuts, and a whole record that means the world to me.
Thank you. Lots of FOMO in my future.

Guitar Solos! Horns! Las Cruces! Hemmingway! Amphetamines!
"Hold Steady at the Comfort Inn/Mick Jagger at the Mandarin."
So nice to have new Hold Steady songs. Each freaking time.

Still can't believe he didn't play "Birds Trapped...." But, man, looks like a great show.

To me, "Birds Trapped in the Airport" and "God in Chicago" are two of the best things he's ever done.

From what I can tell, unlike FITF, Josh Kaufman is credited as a co-songwriter with Craig on this record. Together, they make some beautiful music.

I think it's possibly the best record he's been involved with since Stay Positive. This. I'm in love. Anybody know which songs Tad plays on? I think Craig said 4 in an interview.

This record is a stunner. Easily his best solo work yet. Can't wait to have the lyrics in front of me.

Where can one find the acoustic version??! I'm on my phone and can't copy/paste the link, but it's on his Facebook, during what he called the "Lent Sessions". At the time the song was called "1994". I do like the album version too, but I'm a sucker for that minimalist finger picking he does on songs like the acoustic version of "Maggie" and "Dennis and Billy". Here ya go. www.facebook.com/CraigSteady/videos/1086575968019276/

See, I don't love it. But, that's OK! I have the 7"too. They only released the one, right? There was another one released in the UK (by Full Time Hobby rather than Vagrant), but it just came in a white sleeve with a white label: www.discogs.com/Craig-Finn-Some-Guns/release/3391887Thanks. Love those songs too. Still hoping a Newmeyer's Roof EP shows up on Vinyl someday.

I'm certainly not offended, but I do really love the original cover art of CHFE. I have the 7" also. See, I don't love it. But, that's OK! I have the 7"too. They only released the one, right?

Really hope this doesn't offend anyone. If it does, I'll gladly remove the post. But, since I'm crazy this way, and I love the last two Craig album covers so very much, I have been imagining what it would look like if CHFE had the same overall look. So I made three. Using some of Dan's great shots. Just to pretend. Didn't take the time to get the font completely right, but this was a fun exercise. Maybe a re-release on vinyl using a much better designer than me? One can only hope.

Craig's new album was announced on Seth Meyers last night supposedly. Called "We All Want The Same Thing", artwork was shown and everything, not sure about release date yet. I just read this on reddit, can't find any other info about it though, weirdly Thanks for the tip! Just watched on the NBC site. Yep, he says it will be available for pre-order on January 10th. Another great album cover IMHO. image hosting gif
