A lot of THS with the London shows just a week away but also the new Sleaford Mods LP Eton Alive. I wait and hope but I find it difficult to imagine this lyric from the track Flipside will be bettered in 2019... “Graham Coxon looks like a left-wing Boris Johnson”. Just brilliant, and the album made number 9 on the U.K. Album Chart. Get in there Mods!!

After I found out what a massive creep my favorite Australian songwriter and Unified Scene member Wil Wagner was, I listened to The Opener, a song by his ex’s band, Camp Cope, that weaponized a reference to one of his songs to call him out. It’s brutal.

Bruce Springsteen, "Hello Sunshine".
As predicted, it's very Jimmy Webb / Glen Campbell.
Love it, love it, love it!
SO excited for the album.

delboydrums You and Me both. I love that song. I'm really excited to hear the rest of the album. Here's the thing with guys like Dylan and Springsteen. They might release pieces of shit occasionally but their pieces of shit are way better than most peoples.

A lot of Silver Jews lately. And I think Craig's new album has pushed me towards them.

Other than lots of listening to 'I Need a New War', the new Bruce record has rekindled a fondness for mellow, country-vibe songs.
Obviously Wichita Lineman / Ever Gentle on my Mind / Everybody's Talkin at Me / Galveston, but also some Neil Young / The Band / The Thrills etc.

Steven Hyden at Uproxx is the current critic whose tastes run closest to mine, and he really talked up the new record by Pup, MORBID STUFF. It's not all brilliant, but the lead single "Kids" kicks ass: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iVrOOCYD80

Hi Guys. I know I haven’t been around much in the last ohhh 5 years but I thought I’d share a project with you all that is coming to a close. I’ve been posting a song a day with a review over on wordpress under the name SteveForTheDeaf. It’s been a thing to do to kill time in hospital waiting rooms and airport lounges while I mix keeping my job and supporting my poorly wife. Well, I decided to call it a day at 1000 songs for some reason (one reason being I need to channel my energy into something more productive) and I’ve begun my final 50 count down this week. There are over 953 posts so far, all mixed up genres, eras and reasons for posting. I’m considering this website my autobiography of sorts. It all stops on August 8th and I thought some of you folks might appreciate the reads. There’s a fair few THS songs on the list and a bunch of other related acts. There’s also probably stuff you’ll hate and disagree with and stuff you might enjoy. It’s the closest I’ll probably ever come to writing a book so feel free to check it out. It’s also a secret from anyone I actually know, so... you know. Internet strangers and all that. steveforthedeaf.wordpress.com/

New Titus Andronicus is pretty solid after a couple of spins. Fingers crossed for them to be one of the Massive Nights support acts.

I’ve been reacquainting myself with the back catalogue of Euros Childs and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci after a short, but great, set he did at the Homeless World Cup in Cardiff last night. Unexpectedly he did Poodle Rockin’ from the great Gorky’s LP, Spanish Dance Troupe. So many great folk indie tunes, some of it sung in Welsh, but they’re on Spotify if anyone’s interested. Barafundle and Spanish Dance Troupe are their best I think. Euros’ solo albums, Bore Da and Chops, are great too.
