A genuinely good weekender. Friday was great as usual, the part about Scott Hutchison and absent friends in the middle of Hoodrat was breathtakingly beautiful.
Omeara has been my favourite Sunday venue so far and the set was marvellous - opening with Milkcrate for one. I saw them do Oaks at Rough Trade last year so it wasn’t as much of a big moment for me (though still a thrill) but it was a joy to watch the reactions of everyone else. And the attempts at ‘hip-hop album skits’ ended up more like dad jokes but were still hilariously executed.
Not the place to dwell on it, but I’ve had a shitty time with my mental health over the past few months and even being on my own, it felt beautiful and reassuring to see a community of people who were brought together by this incredible band.

Glad the weekend helped with your mental health mate, I've been there, still do to a degree. Nothing better than being amongst those who share a common passion to help with coping with our life struggles. What a wonderful community this band has as followers. Post weekender blues is a problem for me. The Weekender being over hurts me much more than Massive Nights or other residencies in other places when they conclude. I've got to work on the " be glad it happened, not sad it's over" thing. I'm getting there.

For me this was the best Weekender. It's the first time I've done both the Soundcheck and the quiz, and the Saturday afternoon at Tapping the Admiral. Omeara definitely the best Sunday venue I've been to (I didn't do The Lexington or Oslo), complete with a "proper" boozer close by. I think they could do worse than make this the regular Sunday venue.

Yes! I'll buy you a beer on the balcony. I'm doing all three nights, and I can't wait to get back. Sounds like a plan. I'm thinking balcony for the show, down front for the encores (with assistance from knee brace / ibuprofen etc). See you there, Jonas! Muzzle - I've just messaged you - sorry we didn't catch up!! I have a great pic of tBob, Stringer and I after the show, but can't upload the damn thing here.... ( PS I was nowhere near as drunk as I look in this picture (honest) - that's happiness, exhaustion and confetti!) Attachments:
