Another single before the album release? Not leaving much for the big day. Gonna try to not listen to this one until the album is out, although I did listen to 5 seconds of the middle and it sounds like it rules.

I know it's well established that these guys are buddies but it makes me so happy to see my two favourite artists appreciate each other

Does anyone know who did the album/cover art? Looks like Chris Ware. However, there have been a handful of artists in-the-style-of lately. I may die and come back if it's Chris Ware. I really think that's Chris Ware.

Still out. XO WD

Could anyone care to post photos of the Uncut and Mojo reviews? Can’t seem to find them online. Please don't. Music magazines are in enormous peril, because people have become used to getting everything for free. The more copy you share, the harder it is for magazines to sell copies. And if they don't sell enough copies, their publishers close them and people lose their jobs. I wrote the Uncut review, and once this edition goes off sale, I am happy to post the review here. But as long as it stays on sale, I would appreciate people realising that I expect to be paid for my work – this is my job, not a hobby – and that if you want to read it while it is current, you should pay for it.

I respect that, and I'm sorry for asking. I'm not in any way reluctant to pay for magazines, and I've even been a subscriber of Uncut for a few years. It was mostly eagerness to read it right away, both a couple of weeks and quite a few miles away from any place the magazine is sold.

You can buy single digital issues online for 8 euro. In my local tesco it costs nearly 9 euro (total ripoff) so I just flick thru and read the articles Im interested in. Occasionally I buy a copy if there is decent music on the cd

Hear hear. You’ve made a great argument for what is a major issue.

Just wanted to add: I'm not in any way one of the people who think everything should or could be free, and I gladly pay for music, merchandise, journalism and pretty much every thing else I'm culturally consuming. It was a thoughtless request, and I'm glad it got adressed. As I said, I used to subscribe to Uncut, and I still by an issue now and then. When I came back from Massive Nights in 2017 and found out Uncut reviewed it, I certainly bought an issue. This was mostly eagerness to read the review right away more than any unwillingness to pay for it. And now that I'm back to the civilization, I probably will - if the issue is available in Norwegian outlets.

What's your view on platforms like The Athletic? Seems incredibly ambitious to me, but I'm giving it a go and some of the long form articles in there are really really good quality. I still mourn the death of Word magazine, the last "music" magazine I subscribed to.

On the one hand, great that there's someone investing in quality journalism, paying well, and devoted to doing in depth coverage. On the other, their stated aim is to destroy the local press in the UK by taking every specialist club correspondent. Now, the local press is already on its last legs here, but there's something very mercenary about that attitude. Also, the snatching up of every major writer from the nationals might make the site great, but isn't good for journalism as a whole, because it will diminish the nationals, too. From what I hear about what they are paying writers (massive increases on their salaries on papers), they are going to have to hoover up a whole lot of subscribers to make this work. In two years' time they will be either all-conquering or bankrupt.

Or maybe there is and it hasn't worked yet so I haven't heard about it. I do get the point of print still - there's nothing that can replicate the tactile environment of shiny pages!
