Forgive me, as I’m sure it’s been covered here. Somewhere.
I’ve been a fan since AKM. The music has played a big part in my life. Probably straight up saved it a time or two. Met my wife at a show on the HIW tour. I feel like the new singles are the best material they’ve released since at least Stay Positive. I also feel like this is a best of all possible worlds lineup that I’d kill to see live.
That said, I can’t justify traveling 1400 miles to catch one of these Northeast residencies. Is this the game plan for the foreseeable future? Any album/tour rumors on the back of these amazing singles?

It has been covered, though I can't remember exactly where. If you do some searching you'll probably come across the interview where they said there are no plans for full fledged touring and they're enjoying the current setup. If you've got the means, make the trip. My wife and I have seen about 15 shows over the years and these residencies have been some of the best: they're less tired from constant touring and reinvigorated by the new lineup. Night #1 in Philly last summer was unforgettable and in my top three. You won't be disappointed.

Night #1 in Philly last summer was unforgettable and in my top three. You won't be disappointed. Couldn't agree more. From my perspective, living in Norway, the prospects of catching them without going overseas was slim anyway. But that make the excitement for this residency model even bigger. I've seen Hold Steady six times the past 12 months, only slightly less than the number of shows I caught between 2006 and 2016. I might have thought different about it if I was living in a US city where a normal touring version of Hold Steady was likely to stop by. But I think I might could have enjoyed this tour model anyway. It's so damn rewarding traveling somewhere to see them multiple times. And even though it is expensive, the four days and nights I had in Brooklyn last year cost me less than many of my (not very fancy) vacations the past ten years. If you can afford it, do it. It's totally worth it.

And they haven't all been in the Northeast. I don't where you are, but San Francisco and Chicago this past summer provided other options. If those didn't work, maybe something next year will. Good luck.
