I'm so mad, I'm home in the NYC area and everything and forgot until 10:30 when I ran downstairs screaming at my dad to turn on the TV. We tuned in during the middle of "Stay Positive". It looked great! I saw so many of the Unified Scene. That was really great.

missed the whole thing at work. Did CF come off as wrecked as I remember or did they edit out/over the dropped/slurred vocals?

I think "wrecked" is kind of adding a little fuel to the fire. I have seen CF much worse. he was just having fun, alittle problem with Magazines, but thats it. And SMJ..yep, i caught that finger point on viewing again this morning.

Ya know the very small amount of 'interest" this thread has egenerated shows that the appeal of THS definitely comes from all over. Even though very few people got into this show, I would think there would have been more NYS respondents who watched. Seems to be very little. I am also kinda jazzed about valentines given how quickly the IP show sold out. I mean how many more times can you get to see this band in a small place.

Caught the WNET show last night. Wow. Not to be overly un-complex, but I thought a mix of Van Morrison/Bruce meets the Stooges. Struck me the right way. It was great!
W To catch up, where to start listening??? Ideas??

Start it off with a positive jam.
First album is Almost Killed Me. Start there. Then get the rest, preferably on the same day. See if you can get a ticket to one of next week's shows. People around here might be able to help you out.
Welcome.

If, like me, you were fucking pissed to have missed this episode airing -- I checked the channel 13 website, and they're going to run it again, this time on 21:
4/11/09 @ 10pm on Channel WLIW21

If it helps to know, this is one more person who was watching in New Jersey. Also required a few friends to watch it . Of course it was awesome. Recorded it in high def so I could see every bead of sweat and spit and already watched it a few more times. Unfortunately can't make Irving Plaza so the PBS show helps meet some need but of course is not substition for the real thing.

Hi friends.
Jesus Christ! You guys out east weren't kidding about CF that night. TPT (PBS) here in Mpls just showed the Artist Den performance. Finn looks like he was either hit by a truck, a truck filled with whiskey, or a whiskey bottle filled with a truck-load of whiskey. Slapped Actresses is downright painful. And I say that as one who's spent lots and lots of money I don't have to fly to New York and Boston to see these dudes. Not to mention road trips to Milwaukee, Chicago, and Tennessee. Long live The Hold Steady.

Long live The Hold Steady. Lets cut some slack here. It was a free show with free booze. I had a fucking blast and part of the appeal to ME about THS is the fact that the guys on stage are having as much fun as the kids in the crowd. It was blistering hot in that place and sure a few grey goose's may have entered the dressing room. So lets not dwell on the odd bad stuff, but how about that great version of Stay Positive or Resurrection? How about the pwer of The Swish, howbaout how much fucking fun it was to be there. Massive Night indeed.
