That makes a lot of sense.
I just hope that they don't forget that we've some massive nights over this side of the pond too.

I would like to point out that I am now 38 but, despite Mr. Finn's reservations, I can still rock on a Monday night. Yeah, it hurts on the Tuesday, but some bands are worth it!

TBob, I'm 58 and I'm right with you. I'm going to see Son Volt at the 930 Tuesday night April 11th and I have to confess that I'm taking the day of the show to hang in DC and day after off. However, if I didn't have that option, I'd still go. I wish they would just tour. We'd all show up I'm sure. I don't give a fuck how old I get, if there's a great show to see, I'm there.

I was 13 when I first heard The Hold Steady, back in '06. I couldn't really call myself a rational or a hardcore fan at the time, but I heard "Your Little Hoodrat Friend" and I loved it. Got the CD, eventually got my hands on BAGIA, bought Heaven is Whenever the day it came out—I was still only 15. They were one of my favorite bands at the time. It's funny, I never realized how "behind" his general age group I was until I went to the living room concert and realized that even at 22, I was much much younger than most of the other people there. I don't see that as a good thing or a bad thing, it was great to just be in a room with so many people there to see an act like that. It was just something I'd never really thought about until Craig started pushing the fact of them getting older lately.

I dropped out of college at 20 years old to tour pretty much full time with a punk rock band. It was nothing to go on the road for weeks at a time, play a rowdy show every night, get wasted, crash on a couch and do it all over again the next day. Now I'm 36 (still not old by any means), gigging twice a month in cafe and listening room type venues and that's plenty. I did my first full-fledged tour (with fellow board member Stringer) of the UK & Ireland in 2015, five shows in six days and while it was a blast, I was exhausted afterward and could've slept for a week. And I'm only standing playing an acoustic guitar for an hour, not expending nearly the energy of Craig & co. I can of course only speak for myself but I can only imagine the toll it takes on some of these guys.

What's funny is that so many of us will go to all three nights in whatever city they might tour and then all three nights at the next closest city. Kids and job be damned. I know that Craig knows that people love this band but I don't know if he gets just how much. As a guy living in Indianapolis, I routinely drive to Chicago and Columbus and Cincinnati and Cleveland Louisville and St. Louis and Detroit to to see the bands I love. The Hold Steady is definitely included.
