They were already rather tough to find when I bought mine in 2010.

Congratulations!
I've finally made contact with a guy willing to sell me the 4 Dix 7", which (I think) completes my Craig Finn/Lifter Puller/Hold Steady collection. It's one of the most useless things I've spent money on, but it still feels better than most things.

here it is! i guess i'm technically missing the 12" with "curves and nerves", but that's a comp so i'm not sweating it too bad.

first 2 LPs are originals, and i didn't get the reissues since the bonus material wasn't included. i did get the BAGIA reissue for that 2nd LP. my original BAGIA is pink. even though i don't usually get multiples of the same record, i had already preordered HiW as i didn't expect to find the RSD version in stores. i got one and then just kept the preorder too. teeth dreams is gold. milkcrate mosh is # 212, the split 10" is # 29. i also have the 2 Craig LPs, the honolulu 7" and the some guns 7", but i forgot to include them in the photo.

I went a little bit crazy at some point, and have every record in every available pressing and colour. At some point I guess I just went all in. That's seven (or eight, maybe nine, with the reissues?) different Boys And Girls, both the original and the reissues of AKM/SS, three HiW (original, and both the RSD releases) and both the black and the gold version of Teeth Dreams. As I said somewhere else: It's stupid, but so are other things you can chose to spend your money on. The only think I miss is Milkcrate Mosh in other colours than black. But I think that's where I reach my limit: To spend $70 + shipping on a 7" in a different colour. My Milkcrate is #310, and the Current 10" is #229 (I had to check). The single record in my collection I'm most pleased with, is the No Pun Intended 7". You don't see it very often on internet, and I wonder how many copies there is out there. It can't be that many. I kind of dread being a Record Collector. It's not someone you actually want to be. But I've found comfort in the fact that I only collect everything Craig's involved in. And that the collecting thing feels more like a way to tie a bond with an artist and a band that I love than building a collection per se. But that might just be an excuse for a behaviour I cannot justify or come to peace with.

hey, speak for yourself! i really enjoy being a record collector. i have a little over 2000 records in my basement; some are super rare, limited pressings i consider myself insanely lucky to've found and others are basically worthless on the "market" but mean a lot to me. i like having a large library of artwork to look through, a big selection to choose from when i want to listen to music as i read or when people come over. i like traveling and finding new stores in weird towns and seeing what crazy things i might find. i look at it like having a large book collection. it's a reflection of part of my personality. buying these silly things helps artists keep making more art and helps labels keep releasing that art. of course, every now and then i think about selling it all and making a quick load of money. but i'm too insane and obsessive to do that.

Haha, that might have come out wrong (I blame it on my norwegian-ness). I think we're in the same boat. To me there just seems to be a difference between people collecting records with the love for the music itself as a base, and the people collecting records for the sake of collecting records. That might be a bit harsh, I guess close to everyone collecting records like music. What I meant to say is that when I buy Hold Steady records, it's the Hold Steady part who matters - not the "records" part. And certainly not the potential resale value. My records mean a lot to me as well - but mostly because of how they make me feel more connected to an artist or a band that I love. Maybe this is just a way to tell myself that my relationship to my (in some cases, expensive) records are purer or better than the percieved Record Collectors (capital R, capital C), but there seems to be at least two distinct ways of, or attitudes toward the collecting of records.

I saw a copy of Milkcrate 7in go on eBay, I hopped on it right away. Now I am the proud owner of #305/500. Although I am still working on my THS collection, getting there but still missing a chunk.

Since we're pretty deep into the collectables here: Do anyone have a copy of the Lifter Puller book they're ready to part ways with? I have it, but I have a friend who's looking for it.

I've never seen one go for sale online beyond an Amazon posting I came across around 3-4 years ago. I think I still have a search tag for it, but have never see another copy personally. I hope he's able to find one! I kick myself all the time for not buying one of the shirts/hoodies they were selling back in '09 either, but I had just started listening to them at the time.

The shirt with LFTR PLLR on it? I actually made one myself. It's not 100% accurate, but close enough.

These were the ones they had for sale at the time, in both shirt and hoodie form: I actually did the same thing too! I was trying to recreate the Red Rocks shirts that Steve B.'s offices had made, but the shop I had make it accidentally used glow-in-the-dark letters for the whites. Now at night I have a shirt that says LFT PLL.

Heads up - there’s a Milkcrate Mosh 7” up on Discogs if you’re in the market to get one. Too rich for my blood right now, but hope one of you can give it a home. www.discogs.com/sell/item/2469135908
