I assume I'm one of many who's flying/driving into NYC for the Brooklyn Bowl shows. My nights are booked from 8PM until Killer Parties, but I'm wide open in the daytime. So, couple of questions: 1) Any out-of-towners interested in a daytime hang? 2) Local folks, any suggestions for things to do/places to go?
I've been waiting so long for these shows; hard to believe they're less than a month away!

I've only been to NYC/Williamsburg once, so I guess I'm not the guy to ask. But I would pay Lake Street Bar a visit.

Note though - Lake Street does not open until 4pm (2pm on Saturdays) and be forewarned, it is tiny and gets packed late night. The photo on their website was taken about 10 feet inside the front door. www.lakestreetbar.com/

Secured 2 tickets for Saturday night, have an early morning 5k and then leaving Philly probably around noontime or so. Staying at the Marriot right over the Greenpoint Ave bridge, about 1.4 miles from venue. Will stop in Lake St for sure for a shot and beer, but looking for stuff near the venue to eat, buy records, etc.
Also - any scoops on after party or post show drinks I'm down.

Sbut looking for stuff near the venue to eat, buy records Rough Trade for the vinyl. Not so much for the food. But they do have beer.

Anyone got any comments on Greenpoint? We're staying up at the top, at The Box House Hotel, and planning to just walk down and back. I've been doing a lot of googling about the area and it's safety, but just seeing so many different opinions. We booked the the hotel on the premise we could walk, expecting streets that might be a bit post-industrial (as a friend likes to call such areas)but still safe enough to walk late night if you have common sense.
Anyone local that could advise?
Oh, and we're no spring chickens btw and reasonably streetwise. (We could be both the oldest fans there and the ones that have traveled the furthest to get to these gigs.)

I walk alone often around Greenpoint and never think much of it - just use common sense. Like any big city, you just have to be aware of your surroundings. Also, keep in mind Uber is pretty cheap and readily available in NYC. Also, in Brooklyn, it is no longer "post-industrial" ... it is "pre-condominium".

The hotel actually has some cars, and they'll take you and collect you anywhere within a mile radius for free, which is the rainy weather option. Hopefully though, it'll be more fun strolling back through some "pre-condominium" streets hunting out the odd local bar for drink on the way back, and soaking up the atmosphere.
