What will come of us? Will we see each other at Craig's shows, maybe hold a candlelight vigil at a World/friendship inferno society concert? We'll do a costume at the slackers- someone in sweatpants, someone in broken heels, all of us waiting for someone to recognize us? Will there be a reunion in 10 years- one show in brooklyn, one in minneapolis?
Listen, can we just promise to get coffee together once in a while, to keep up and still be friends?

Indeed, if that were to be the case. But in the meantime, I am reminded of Samuel Langhorne Clemens:
"When you hear it, don't you believe it. And don't take the trouble to deny it. Merely just raise the American flag on our house ...and let it talk."

Man, I'm sure my HOA would have something say about raising a talking american flag.

My first hold steady show was on the rock and roll means well tour, with DBT. Amazing show. nothing else to add that wouldn't become a missive on buddhism and dealing with the transience of existence.

like i said in another post THS no longer a fully functioning band "I always hope that the Hold Steady will be around, because there's camaraderie and there's a community, a shared experience, that is important to me. But sometimes I think as we get older, it can be unwieldy. The Hold Steady is a big enough band that we need a certain amount of people to do things, so there's some flexibility that the solo thing gives me to keep working. Also, artistically, it's become important to me to be able to do both. It's become a thing where I'm definitely going to need to do both to be happy." CF

I think that Craig's comments in these recent interviews (as opposed to some doom-mongering here) give us plenty of reason to stay positive about the future of THS. Best of both worlds, I'd say!!

Sorry to be so late to this party (funeral? ) but I have a question that wasn't addressed...technically/legally, isn't THS really just Craig and Tad? So, if there is to be any future for THS, it is going to be just these two who need to agree on the plan. Right?

Sorry to be so late to this party (funeral? ) but I have a question that wasn't addressed...technically/legally, isn't THS really just Craig and Tad? It ain't a funeral. Technically/legally, Craig and Tad are the primary songwriters. The band is still a band. So, if there is to be any future for THS, it is going to be just these two who need to agree on the plan. Right? No offense but, wrong. THS is a very democratic process involving the band and input from management. Scrolling back ... stay positive. Play the records.
