Strangers May Cheer You Up, Study SaysHow happy you are may depend on how happy your friends’ friends’ friends are, even if you don’t know them at all. www.nytimes.com/2008/12/05/health/05happy-web.htmlWe're good for each other! Scientists say so. I'm choosing to disregard this sentence: “You have to see them and be in physical and temporal proximity,” Dr. Christakis said.

i was just thinking this morning how grateful i am to not be where i was a year ago.... working 10PM-6AM then going directly to a middle school to teach 7th graders how to dissect things and then to the mall to work a 2nd job and then home to sleep for 3-5 hours before doing it all over again.
i swear last fall/winter ate my soul.

+ I can attest that our beloved breukelen's aforementioned book is indeed ten thousands shades of incredible. I've read it, like, six times. Over the past, what, two months? Painfully good. Click to purchase! + A very dear friend played a very big show last night (opening for Colin Meloy - !) and I woke up to a text from him that said, simply, "Well, that was an unbelievable success." + That New York Times article linked above by Ms. essbee. LOVE IT. Especially the phrase "emotional quiet riot." + August and Everything After. On repeat, forever. Goddamn, the mandolin! Thank you, David Immerglück. + Even if you are not familiar with Improv Everywhere, please click here. They do incredible things that remind you how magical life is -- like welcome home strangers with flowers and balloons at JFK Airport! Improv Everywhere!

+Missed no schoolwork yesterday because a lot of the teachers were snowed in. +Last 4 pieces of ICT work have been A's, thus making me top of the class, even though I know I am not the best. +Hold Steady Sunday +School ended at 1:00 today instead of 4:00

A Charley Bowers dvd set I've been wanting hit ten bucks on Amazon today. I ordered it. I was in a bad mood due to a court case in the family, but that new youtube clip of the kid winning $86k on a game show on his birthday cheered me right up. I was looking at property ads in the paper and realized I shouldn't think about moving - I have the best location in town.

i might be a bit of puppet snob though. Hahaha first time I've heard that expression. Right now I am imagining you as John Cusack at the start of Being John Malkovich...

How is it that our society loves seeing people filled with joy, as well as seeing people in pain?

I could watch that video all day. It makes my heart feel full. And 19 is a really, really exhilarating year. I love how he throws himself down on the ground when he gets the $25k.
Also, those 2009 V6 Mustangs are zippy as hell!

Tomorrow I'm trucking up to Tulsa to see Michael Chabon at a book signing. I'm thinking about burning him a CD... good idea? Too creepy?

he's a good speaker. when he came through dc last time though, there were expensive tickets and it was sold out and i got nowhere close to him. (although i could have if i had waited in the 2 hour line for his signature).
at a somewhat more chill reading, i would think giving him a CD would be completely fine and not at all creepy

Normally all I eat for dinner is cereal. Tonight I had a three course fondue meal that took over two hours. I am full and very happy.
