"Curves and Nerves" forever! I like this 5x in a row idea. Yesterday was fantastic.

Curves and Nerves is great. One of my favorite HS songs. I got to see it live in DC in like 09 I think.

Cobra Lounge was unreal. Best Hold Steady show I've been to and it was #10! Double digits now. I'll write more later but, man.
FYI, encore was Citrus, Stations, Chips, Hoodrat.

I agree that it was one of the best shows I've seen. Hostile, Mass was one I never thought I'd get to see. That show totally made up for missing them play BAGIA all the way through on the 4th of July in Iowa.

The BAGIA all-the-way-through show is like something out of my dreams. I am so sad that I missed it. PARTY PIT. I agree that it was one of the best shows I've seen. Welp, this show definitely lived up to the hype guys. Best show I've ever been at, period. Sketchy metal is my favorite song of all time. Seeing it live was amazing. And the crowd was great. Met a ton of scenesters for the first time. Lots of hugs and high fives. And confetti. And beer. Really a once in a lifetime kind of show. Thanks to Nowah, Brendan, Norah, Eric, Jessica, Buddy, Glen, all the other folks who made it a blast. You guys rule.

A few random thoughts about my massive night. 1. Had a great time pregaming with Glen, Luke, Marty and Jessica at the Billy Goat Tavern and the Kaiser Tiger. We had an Almost Everything moment when the bartender at the Kaiser Tiger asked where we were playing that night. He didn't mistake us for Pink Floyd, but at least he mistook us for a band. 2. The best thing about "Death & Memphis" was arguing about whether it was actually two bands, "Death" and "Memphis," and then arguing about whether "Memphis" is a terrible name for a band. 3. That said, I kinda felt bad for "Death & Memphis." They gave it their best shot, but everyone was just waiting for them to finish. 4. Agree with what everyone's said about this show. Epic. The coolest part for me was the fadeout of Killer Parties going into Constructive Summer. 5. Thanks to Luke and Marty for closing down the Lincoln Park bars with me after the show (my flight home didn't leave until 7 AM, so I had some time to kill after the show ended). 6. The Unified Scene and @theunifiedscene (sup, Brendan) are the best. So funny to turn my phone on Saturday morning and see thid text message list filled with new numbers, all with different area codes. People touchin' people that they don't even know, yo. 7. Still had confetti stuck to my tub this morning.

If it was "death" and "Memphis" the show would have been listed as "the Hold Steady," "death" "Memphis."
Don't feel sorry for us, my band was not only ASKED to play Riot Fest, but we were hand picked to open for one of my favorite bands of all time (who I've seen live 18 times in 4 states.) Bobby was kind enough to hang out for a few minutes before the show and talk with me, and he offered for my band to use his drum kit so that there would be enough stage room for us.
I got on stage at Cobra Friday night (which has a capacity of 300, not 141 btw) and grinned my way through our set. I was with my best friends in the world, making music we genuinely care about, and I shook a lot of hands throughout the course of the night. That, my friends, is the very definition of a MASSIVE NIGHT. And for me, THEY GO ON FOREVER.

Certainly good enough that I dug around on the internet the next day and will likely go out and see you again. So great job!!

I had a blast, thank you. I don't disagree with the statement "everybody was waiting for them to be done," that's the job of a supporting act: to play music for you while you wait for your favorite band to come on. A majority of the time supporting acts are picked for good reason, also a majority of the time people don't want to be entertained by an opening band, or have no interest in being exposed to new music. I don't understand that, but to each their own. A majority if our online activity is done at www.facebook.com/deathandmemphis thanks for looking us up. Oh, and for the people who were confused about our band name, it's a Replacements reference.

I mean, everyone keeps a list of the setlist from every THS show they've seen, right?

Lots of passion, loud and super interesting. And I'm normally part of the "waiting for the opening band to be over" contingent. This is one of the few times ever where that was not the case for me.
