conffetti at pitchfork. it had been raining, and everyone was sweaty on top of that, and i distinctly remember being stained odd colors for about a week. that was my first (and sadly, only) experience with ths live, and it was perfect.

Confetti is full of win.
We were going to throw confetti at the Converse TLA show in Philly, but it got confinscated.
Electric Factory made up for it. That confetti shower was so awesome!

The Pitchfork confetti was great. I was so sweaty and wet from rain that I ended up with confetti stains on me. Two weeks later, I uncuffed the jeans I was wearing that day and about a pound of confetti fell out of the rolled up legs of my pants. It was a nice little surprise and reminder.

Electric Factory made up for it. That confetti shower was so awesome! So, as I was being molested by the security guard on my way into the Electric Factory, she patted down my breast pocket. So, she reached inside my jacket and pulled out a large-ish pouch of soft, unidentifiable substance, perhaps a powder, and fixed me with a hard look. "And What. Is. This." "um, confetti" "Oh." Puzzlement. squeezed the bag a few a times. Then she stuffed it back in my pocket and waved me past.

I'm still finding confetti all over my apartment from the massive US sleepover at my place after the Milwaukee show. Which was in early April.
It never fails to make me smile. And neither does howardfinkel/Mike!

you know, i was pretty skeptical of the confetti phenomenon until i was right in the middle of a confetti throw in philly. we filled the front rows with it i think. the air shimmered, the band was stoked, it was party. do it. what she said. and i have craig smile, i have seen craig fake smile, and i have seen craig break out in a heartfelt real "so much joy" smile. the confetti in philly resulted in the latter. raise up a giant latter.

hehe ... i know ... i wouldn't say that to anyone but my little hoodrat friend who knows i am kidding. can i say that security guards frisking people when you enter a venue is obnoxious? it must be the small-town guy in me, but overbearing security is a buzzkill. on the other hand, napping security guards on stage (i.e. baltimore ths/pretenders) is disturbing too! anyway ... back to the topic ... get the confetti in, use it. by the time it lands on the people around you, no one will know who threw it and most people will break out in smiles anyway.

i did confetti with my best friend mackenzie last year thanksgiving eve at Terminal 5 during "Chips Ahoy". we were stoked, the band was stoked, but the three girls next to us in front who seemed miserable to be there were NOT stoked that it was in their hair.

Hey everybody, It's just about finals time. This thread cheers me up. SO I will type..
The confetti, AFAIK, originated during the legendary Asbury Park show we all rave about. By the time the show was over, everyone in the crowd was pretty much covered in beer and (wet) confetti. I kinda remember it happening during "Chicago Seemed Tired.." but I could be wrong. Think the person throwing got kicked out too or at least moved to the back maybe. Hazy night.
But yeah, I figured I'd bring it back again last year. Think I've done it in MKE, Chicago, Pontiac, Cleveland, NY, Philly? Maybe less, maybe more, not clear w/ the details.
Fav. time besides Asbury Park is probably Pitchfork. There were a group of young Animal Collective fans in front of us clinging to their lives as us Scenesters jumped about. To preface, I was at the end of a 3 day string of shows, flying from Philly to Columbs, busing to Cleveland, busing to Pontiac, Michigan, then taking a 8hr train to Chicago. 4 Energy drinks. Pushed through however many 1000 Vampire Weekend fans to get toward Brendan, Emily, and katieee. These kids were not having me in front of them, though. So the boys started playing. And I lost it yanno. It was the last show of a very long, great trip. My friend said she thought I was a preacher who had lost his mind. I told her I was just having a damn good time. But yeah, I figured the boys wouldn't play Killer Parties so we threw it up during Yr Hoodrat Friend during "There were just too many kids" Will always remember jumping into the air with those bags of confetti.
Close 2nd is DC, at which point I looked up to see the confetti everywhere in the lights above us, slowly floating down while the band played. It was everywhere, must've been a ceiling-fan or the lights or something. I looked on stage and saw Koob lean over to Craig and clearly say "That was awesome" We were all jumping around and everyone was smiling. Security must've magically replaced the drunken-jerky-moshy frat guys behind us with harmless skinny, trendy Asians. The music was loud. The band was tight. I looked behind us at all the people, and there were so many people. It was wonderful. Yanno, it was just one of those moments when life creeps up on you and shouts, "There is goodness in this world." We listened to classic rock the whole ride home. I was happy.
I can't forget the numerous times with WD there have been confetti either. They're all my favorite times yanno. It just brings a fun element to the night. I mean, there's only one way to enter a hotel in Nowheresville-Pontiac, Michigan, and that way is to be covered in alcohol and cheap confetti.
Sentimental jabbering aside, I hope the confetti thing catches on in every city and it's something we all try to sneak past security (Fuck you Riviera!). In Philly, I drunkenly missed half the set and certainly didn't have any confetti but there was still soo much confetti and it was rly nice.
Also, as a suggestion, some choice confetti throwing points: -Killer Parties, after 'ybor city is tres speedy.., killer parties almost killed me. killer parties almost killed me' -Yr Hoodrat Friend, after Too Many Kids -How A Ressurection Really Feels, after the Walk on Backs but before the breakdown/guitar solo -Most People are DJs, after I still feel pretty sweet
CHEERS -mike

I was pretty upset we didn't get it in Chicago at the Riv. Would have been the perfect cap on the evening.

I couldn't find any confetti or glitter today. Might try ASDA and Tescos when I get a chance.
