YESSSSSS!!! never thought this would happen again. 12/16(?)/06 was my fourth (?) hold steady show, and it took place right here, in this insanely small rock club. schaefer abounds, as well as utica club. at that point, both were $1 apiece. the owner, howard, is a gigantic mets fan and once bumped some yankees fans off photo hunt so i could play. the show space is TINY, the sound is eh, but the ambiance is like no other. i recommend bombers for the best mexican food in the 518, and the lark tavern for post-show brewskies. i. love. albany. I used to live on Lark Street, pretty much across the street from Bombers. I still have some wooden drink tokens from 2-for-1 happy hour in a tray on my desk. That place was my favorite drinking spot in Albany when I lived there...although quaffing Laser 40s in the park on warm summer nights was a close second. I second Heidi's Bombers endorsement - it's a fine spot to hit off for a pregame. I am in + 1, and I could not be more excited for this show.

All right, so where to stay that isn't $180/night?

Okay, we're still flip flopping on this one. Convince me that this one is a good idea.

the cab situation in albany is not terrible for a city of its size. anyone needing a cab from valentine's will have to call for one in advance-- usually a 10-20 minute wait. just ask the bartender for a cab number.
the hilton garden inn is $180 the night of the show. however, it is within stumbling distance from valentine's. literally 200-300 feet away.
a holiday inn express recently opened way downtown on broadway (i believe) right next to the greyhound station, for anyone traveling by bus. the station is not in the nicest part of town, but its not horrible. plus, you can roll out of bed & hop on your bus.
for anyone traveling by train, the cab ride will be approx. 15 bucks from the station to their hotel in albany-- maybe more, as cab rates in albany are based on geographic zones. although i don't know many of you, i might be able to help with picking a few of you up from the station, but i won't know that for sure for a few weeks.
i live 1.5 miles from valentine's and i have seen the band over 10 times-- if anyone has any logistical questions re: albany or the show, i can probably help.

Albany Unified Scene T-Shirts? Thoughts? I don't have one; would like to rock one; would help to get it going - please advise.
Also, are posters being produced for this tour? Albany specifically?
Stephen Punk Rock Lloyd - you are my hero. My "fact-checking cous" of the Capital District. Call/text me when you can, I'm in Puerto Rico for the week.
Looks like Ticket-whore has started to deliver in mail - I ordered 3, will check status when I return to upstate NY.
