So after three (four?) months of wandering in the wilderness*, I dip back into the world of THS to discover that they're playing the Bevrijdingsdag Festival (May 5) in GRONINGEN! Not in a million years did I think that they would ever come near our little town... and on a day when we have guaranteed babysitting, too, since the in-laws will be visiting! The weird thing is that the website for the festival --- which is FREE, by the way --- doesn't mention THS. However, it appears not to have been updated since mid-February. www.bevrijdingsfestivalgroningen.nl/Anybody know the deal? Anybody want to come join us? scott * OK, being busy and overwhelmed.

As much as i love Holland: no. Simply I can't do it and if I could I wouldn't, last time I was in Holland/ Belgium/ NE France i got depressed by it's unnatural flatness (Icome from a village in the foothills of the Cairngorms).

However, after nearly 7 years here, I have come to some sort of inner peace with the geography and lack of topology. But I admit that being in southern Perthshire a few weeks ago made me feel much better.

Just saw the line-up for this festival: THS playing 40 minutes at 7 pm. Still, it's (a) IN GRONINGEN! and (b) FREE. So I'm going to drag every single person I know and many I don't along.

So I'm the only person still posting in this thread, but I have a question: Catriona, our 6-year-old girl, wants to go to see THS at the (all-ages, free) Groningen Liberation Day Festival. Any advice from other parents about how to protect her hearing? We don't have protective headphones, unfortunately, but ear plugs are easy to come by. Thoughts?

The main reason i took the day off and go to Groningen is THS. Just kick some Robinson's ass (there are two to kick!) in the HMH and rock the hell out in Groningen! We are ready for THE Rock band playing on www.bevrijdingsfestivalgroningen.nl/ 2009! ps ill be the loaded bald head bearded guy with tubes in his ears in front of stage...

We'll manage Elliptical.
Any other bands your interested in? I think i'm gonna see Taneytown on Podium Noord just before THS. They are based in my home town, curious if i recognize some faces.
We're about to leave to Groningen, hope meeting you there!

Short, but very, very sweet. Good sound, decent crowd, and you gotta admit, the band's pretty tight...
Set list: Stuck Between Stations Sequestered in Memphis Magazines Your Little Hoodrat Friend Stay Positive Constructive Summer Navy Sheets Chips Ahoy Lord I'm Discouraged Killer Parties
A gem of a set list for a festival slot. The boys were tight, they had it down, it's clear that these short sets are a nice change for them. They rocked the HOUSE. Lots of smiling faces from people who clearly didn't know the band.
Most importantly (for Kate & me): it was Catriona's first rock show (or as she says, "rock FESTIVAL"). And she did great, and she loved it. We made her wear good earplugs and covered her ears with a knit cap, and she sat on my shoulders for nearly the entire set (except during Chips Ahoy, where I switched with Kate to give my back a break, then switched back for the rest of the set). Because of the girl, we didn't stand in the front row for once, but we wound up about 6 rows back. She asked if she could come to more "rock concerts" with mommy & daddy. We said "we hope so".
Briefly met onrust from the board --- hi onrust! Sorry we had to leave so quickly --- needed to get the girl home to bed, as it's a school day tomorrow!
Pictures to follow...

There needs to be "blush" emoticon. Because we're both blushing.

There needs to be "blush" emoticon. Because we're both blushing. Well, you take her to rock FESTIVALS and you know how to put together a care package. I assume you feed her well, keep her safe, clean and warm, and encourage reading, so as far as I'm concerned, you meet all my criteria for great parenting.
