Painfully hot tonight, but such a good show. This whole summer has been stressful and the last week had way too many things happen at once. I needed tonight to be good and it was.

It was super warm. but worth it. I wished these new confetti bombs didn't suck. But I will pre package stuff for all you kids in line. Hope we all rage out tomorrow after the show. Wanna plan a pre-game? Last year it was that irish bar across the street. I am game. Also, saw Craig in the graves bar on my way to the strip club. He was drinking, a lot. I doubt he'll be singing anything during the daylight tomorrow.
Pre-game - Irish bar. I don't have a us shirt. Cause I only wear dresses (its a vagina thing). I got red hair. My boyfriend has a beard and usually a shirt I approve of, on. Just pm me your number if you want to pre-game and we can work from there.
Oh..also...kid in the blue shirt at the caboozo shirt, you fucking rocked. I think your name was John, but you made me want to shake my booty despite the sweat. Hope you bring your dance party to first ave.

Good show.
My one complaint ("disappointment" is probably more appropriate) is that they didn't play longer. I felt like they had an opportunity for an epic show, and they only played for about 100 minutes. It was still light out when they finished. I was half-hoping that they'd take a 30 minute break and come out and rock for another 45 minutes for the encore.
Show just seemed kind of short, given the venue and occasion.

It's so past my bedtime, but there are a few things I want to say and I'll probably forget if I don't now: -Thank you to the TC for this amazing weekend. I am so blessed to live in a city with so many vibrant scenes and such great support. -Thanks to Atmosphere and THS, you both reminded me why I feel in love with you in the first place. I love it when I get to remember how it felt to be in 9th grade and hear a band on Radio K and learn that band is from MPLS. To have a ridiculous happy crush on a local rapper that worked at the Electric Fetus. To hear Craig Finn's so distinctive voice over the radio long after LFTR PLLR stopped making music and to be so excited. To learn MPLS better by taking the bus to find locations referenced in Atmosphere and LFTR PLLR songs. I still recite "This was back when Franklin Ave was still pretty" when riding the #2. -Thank you to everyone around me tonight. Thank you to whoever brought the confetti and the First Ave guy for handing out freezies and water. It means so much to me that I get to experience this with you. It's like even the Holy Spirit is dancing and singing along. Thank you all.

Meeting a lot of people tonight was great, however the two drunken idiots behind me ruined a good portion of the show for me. They kept ramming a group of girls directly behind me, and I couldn't concentrate on the music because I kept looking back making sure they were okay and not in any kind of physical danger (I was in the first row directly in front of Craig, to the left of the kid with the blond afro). Then during the encore when the flags were handed out, one of the drunks kept raising his flag up and down above my head, Psycho style, and laughing. As inebriated as they were, I couldn't help but be paranoid for the rest of the show.
The band was great though. Steve and Tad's guitar duels were really incredible, and they played a few songs I've never heard live before. Everyone was awesome and super nice, it's unfortunate that it only took a couple people to almost ruin the experience.

I wanted Banging Camp and I wanted them to end with Killer Parties. I got everything I wanted and more. I was covered in sweat by the end and sang along to every tune. Even cried tears of happiness a few times.
The Hold Steady's music was the soundtrack to my college experience at the U of M. Just hearing and seeing Craig so joyfully burst through classic after classic took me back and made me very emotional. The band was as good as a band could sound and I feel like the setlist was a little something special for a hometown crowd.

Have they played Yeah Sapphire since Franz left ? When is the last time they played it ? Seems like it would be a rare one to get. Its always on my short list.

any tapers spotted there? Not sure what this means, but there were multiple mics pointed at the audience. Maybe another live album?

Best show I've seen. Hands down.
Bschultz - Yeah, those guys were douches. I was behind them at one point, and the ones father, (guy in a white shirt but with gray hair), dropped his fucking glass on the ground after he finished his drink. I was like wtf dude, and he said "I finished it." I was like "Drink your fucking glass bottle stuff before you come up here or take it the trash". Joe and I both had glass beers that we took to the garbage between the whigs and ths. But yea, they showed up halfway through the whigs and were bouncing around like a bunch of fools. And did you guys see those two dumb blonde chicks just flying around during the first 3 ths songs? They were super drunk, one of them busted a whole glass container of corona before the whigs started. I don't know why they let you have glass in there.
Other than that though, was a super rad show. Glad you guys liked the confetti. I need to find those bombs again.

Its been missing in action as far as I've seen. Its a shame too. I'd love to see it played more. Also, I've noticed The Smidge has been played very rarely. Another underrated song that would be great live.

Awesome, I'll remember it forever. A great show on Sat as well. I was on the rail right next to Bschultz, it was a unified vibe, can't wait to see them again.

I was behind them at one point, and the ones father, (guy in a white shirt but with gray hair) Are you talking about the old, uptight looking guy that just stood there the entire time during the concert and never bobbed his head or anything? If so, then one of the kids you're talking about very presumptively started grinding me at one point...I'm a dude, btw. Add the dude in the yellow shirt that couldn't jump up and down in anything resembling a straight path and you had quite an unnecessary push-fest, rather than a unified jam fest. Concert was great, but some people need to be self-aware. Still easily the best concert I've ever been too and probably the single best experience in my relatively young life.

Yes that is the dad i am talking about!! And the guy in the yellow was in front of my boyfriend at one point, and he just kept his hands out, keeping the guy in a reasonable distance. Everyone else around us was super cool.

I was there on 7/4. It was my eighth show and the best set list I've seen yet. Really wanted to see Cattle & the Creeping Things, A Slight Discomfort and Most People are DJs. WOW! It all happened.
My friends and I threw some confetti during the beginning of Most People... I thought the crowd was pretty good. Didn't have to many problems with people, though my friend got some glass in between her foot and her sandal somehow. How stupid that people would just drop glass bottles on the ground.
I collect show posters, and The Hold Steady one was only $10! Great deal!

Both shows were great.
Sunday night at first ave was probably the best out of all the times I've seen them.
Unfortunately I tore the lateral meniscus in my knee in the end of June so I was in more than just slight discomfort standing for such extended periods of time both days. The alcohol helped though.
