Did Chico just get canceled and the show moved to LA?

Ha.
Thanks for sharing the news.
I haven't properly purchased tickets yet and was just gonna drive up from SF day of show. Would have been a bit of a shock to turn up to an empty venue. I wonder if it's a larger or smaller place?
I'm looking forward to this tour and it's the first time I've ever proactively followed a band so thoroughly... I'm in for Chico, Santa Cruz, Costa Mesa, Pomona, and (potentially) Santa Barbara.
Should be good times.

If you need Costa Mesa tickets you can have mine for face value...I can bring them to Chico. Lemme know.
I was curious as to the venue size as well...wonder if it's bigger or smaller.

I looked at the bands playing each venue and the ones at the El Rey seem slightly more popular, so I'm gonna guess it's bigger.
Costa Mesa tickets are the only ones we've actually bothered to purchase in advance knowing how small the Detroit Bar is and how I think THS sold the place out even three years ago. Otherwise I'd have been more than happy to buy yours.
If ya see me at the Chico show, feel free to come say hi (or anyone else whose attending, for that matter) I'll be the gangly blond 28 yr old dude, presumably a bit drunk, enthusiastic and potentially wearing a DBT shirt. We'll share an awkward conversation for a couple minutes about being two strangers with a similar musical passion and then we'll all rock out Killer Parties-style. It'll be like a scene... like some sort of unified... scene.

I was at the May 4th show, front and center. I plan on being in the same spot for SB. ;-) See you there, dealer. I think I'm planning on wearing my blue BAGIA t-shirt. I'll be the one double-fisting drinks all night Awesome dude, I'll be up front with my 3 or 4 buddies as well. I'll be wearing my "MEMPHIS" jersey (Memphis Grizzlies, #2)...

Are you planning any pre-party meet-up stuff? There seems to be lots of bars/places to get drinks within walking distance of the venue.

Anyone have the Santa Cruz setlist last night? Didn't write down the setlist, but a few notable differences from the night before: Chicago Seemed Tired Last Night Multitude of Casualties Lord, I'm Discouraged Your Little Hoodrat Friend Two wonderfully enthusiastic, energetic shows in a row. The band has been in fine form and impeccably tight (notably during the breakdown on Hoodrat, an opportunity for some pretty fantastic guitar interplay.) It's an even bigger testament to the already proven fact that this band FUCKING BRINGS IT that they've rocked two frustratingly under-attended shows like they were stadium gigs. Seriously, "half full" would be a generous estimate for Chico, and it took a while for the floor to resemble anything close to "crowded" in Santa Cruz. It seemed like everyone who was there was completely into it, which is nice, but seriously Northern California.... step up your game.

Last night's setlist was probably the best I've ever heard...too bad my energy level was so down I couldn't nearly enjoy it as much as I'd liked. Great crowd up front.
I didn't jot down the setlist, but they brought back "Lord I'm Discouraged" complete with double-necked guitar as well as an awesome version of "Ask Her For Adderall."

Has "Barely Breathing" been played at either of the first two SoCal shows? I'm really hoping for that one in Santa Barbara on Friday...

They sure did.
I'm surprised I forgot to mention it, as it was a particular highlight. They seemed to get pretty loose and fun with the "kids are all distracted" part.

"Members" of the decent SD radio station 94.9 just got this announcement (below) of a THS headline Saturday show this November. I've got tix lined up... hope to see you there.
94.9 does it right, they've had THS on their summer show a few years ago just before SP came out... and the last November package show of theirs that I saw w/ TV on the Radio, The Delta Spirit and The Dirtbombs was a terrific evening.
----
First off, thanks to everyone who made it out for the FM 94/9 Independence Jam: Coastal Invasion! Check out all the pictures and even upload some of your own at fm94/9sd.com
And now for the real reason we’re filling up your inbox, we’re pleased to let you know that the Rock n’ Roll Blowout Party known as The 8th Annual FM 94/9 Anniversary Bash presented by Miller Lite is happening, Saturday night, November 13th at Fourth and B… Check out the Rock n’ Roll for this year’s Party!! The Hold Steady The Night Marchers and New Politics. There’s good chance that the FM 94/9 station band will also be performing, if you can call it that…but first we have to find practice space…
Tickets are only $26 with no additional fees and of course $1 of every ticket sold goes to the “About The Music” fund which helps support music education in San Diego County Public Schools.
As an FM 94/9 insider, you’re able to purchase your tickets early. The pre-sale starts tomorrow at 7am...CLICK HERE to get yours!
Tickets for the general public will go on-sale at 10am on Friday.
Our annual Anniversary Bash is always a great party, but we can’t celebrate properly without you! Make your plans now to join us as we kick off another great year. We’ll see you there!
Cheers,
Garett- FM 94/9 Program Director

San Diego show? Hell yes. I've got people to crash with with only a days notice, two months is easy as pie. And they won't mind if I stumble in drunk at 2:00, cause that's what they'll be doing anyway!

And it's right in the Gaslamp, perrrfect for pre and post game. I'm already thinking the Local for pre gaming, cheap good food, cheap locally brewed beer, and it's right around the corner.

We are going to have a fine time in San Diego my friends!
(I'm also going down there this soon to be upcoming Saturday the 18th to see The Walkmen in Solana Beach at the Belly Up. If any one is going to that, I will definitely be pre-partying at Pizza Port / Solana Beach Brewing for that one... )
