Fri 04/10/09 Boulder, CO Fox Theatre Sat 04/11/09 Salt Lake City, UT Urban Lounge Oh Yeah! That's a Friday night in Boulder. Our door is always open. Over my kids' spring break. Skiing in Colorado or Utah? Albany is a possibility too. Ah, Hank... That'd be a blast- especially if Neil is making the trek... but my kid will be a week old while you guys rock the Fox. Next time there's a tour in this part of the country, we've got to kick it... think there'll be another Denton show ever? All you Urbana, IL kids: Hold Steady. I'll be sequestered in delivery during that one.

It would be cool if they would play another date in California. In April. You mean in January...

Check these guys out people! The War on Drugs are a great f-ing band. They're kinda like The Band meets Bruce Springsteen meets Sonic Youth.

DAMN! I love The War on Drugs, this is gonna be a great tour. Tentatively count me in +2 for the Bloomington date. I've got fam in Fort Wayne, including a cousin who absolutely loves THS (thanks to me , and I've been looking for an excuse to drive out and visit. This seems as good a reason as any. Fingers crossed that gas prices stay so low! Anybody ever been to Jake's Nightclub? Capacity, vibe, etc? God, wouldn't you know it. It's on the 4th, just one day before my 21st birthday! I'll have to convince the bartenders that it's a typo or something, haha!

Can you tell me how far it is from Indianapolis to Bloomington? I am getting conflicting information off the interwebs.
The distance from Bloomington to St. Louis would also be helpful. Thank you.

albany fo sho. valentines is so shitty its beautiful. agreed. also, has anyone figured out exactly WHERE to buy said tickets? THS' site has links to venues when you click "tickets" - you'd think those links would go to ... a site where you buy tickets, but no. it's not fucking rocket science, jeez.

The Calvin College date: "Our festival is not primarily concerned with the Christian music industry or limited to discussing only those artists who publicly embrace a specific religion. Rather, we hope to facilitate a broader conversation about all forms of popular music and our response to it as people of faith. Past festivals have featured artists Emmylou Harris, Sufjan Stevens, Neko Case, and David Bazan. For this year’s festival, we have invited The Hold Steady, Over The Rhine, and T Bone Burnett, and we anticipate the inclusion of many other artists." groups.google.com/group/musicology-announce/browse_thread/thread/d3e42ab39f2d8d11?pli=1Huh! This will be interesting. Indeed it will. I went to Messiah College, a similar school in that they are both Liberal Arts schools with religious backgrounds. I ran the radio station and was a big part of the concerts there (M. Ward, Decemberists, Regina Spektor, Jeff Tweedy, Rilo Kiley, Sam Beam, to name a few). The Hold Steady actually came up in conversation once (I, naturally, was a huge proponent). If that show would have happened, it would have been interesting indeed...decent crowd, a little awkward, and most definitely dry. But also a very unique experience. I can imagine Calvin College would be the same way...they are known for getting great shows, but don't expect a lot of the Hold Steady mystique to be there. That being said, it will definitely be an interesting show, because there will be a lot of interesting dialogue about the lyrics, especially from a different perspective than some may be used to. It definitely won't be a "Christian Music Festival" though...more of an exploration of culturally important music at a college that happens to have a religious background (and probably with some speakers talking about interpreting said music from a Christian perspective). I wish I could make it out there.

God damn, I'd pay anything for this to come to Montreal or Toronto...maybe I'll have to trip it down to Buffalo.

You have almost four months to figure it out. Buy at ticket and I'll buy it from you if it doesn't work out (this offer good for only one ticket, though, I'm not totally nuts).
