Do you print off the cover to fit the cd case? Because i would like to know the dimensions I usually make a little collage type thing over the existing jewel case, i never buy blank cds without cases for that reason.

Lots of people have asked about themes. A few people have suggested some. As I said before, we're not doing a single board theme, but some of the suggestions out there:
Local Bands Songs about Movies Positive Rock Storyteller Songs Great Covers of Shit Songs How a Resurrection Feels Songs
You can (and have) come up with cleverer names.
Do as you will.

I am considering a MN artists/songs about MN theme, but I am not completely sold. I am really torn about whether or not to include country, in case my giftee hates country.

I have a suggestion! If you're signed up to this, you could post a little wishlist thing here that your secret cd-santa can peruse. They're not obliged to follow it, but it could be handy! For instance, you could say: I really like: x, y, z for the love of God, please don't include: I've heard about these bands/genres and am intrigued:
Could be useful if someone wants to tailor your cd to your tastes a bit. And if you're happy with something completely serendipitous, you could just choose not to reply!

Jeeze. You can't ask to influence a secret Compilation. You might as well buy the tracks yourself. A comp is someone's chance to take you on a musical journey. If I got a no Metal rule in a trade. I'd start with Reign In Blood and work off on a tangent from there.
One of the best comps I've got was the one I received last year. It lives in my CD changer in the car. And I've got into a few bands I'd never have listened to because of it.
Damn, there might even be a THS song on my comp.

If anyone puts the Beautiful South on my cd, I'll track 'em down and slap them with one of my shoes. (Although for one or two people that might be an incentive. You guys get slapped with haddock.) Luckily, I think you all have better taste than that!
I think it's alright to post suggestions - no one has to follow it, but I personally like to tailor my gifts to what I know about a person so that, for instance, my cd won't be an indulgent wank over what I like, but is hopefully what someone else will like!
If you get me, I'm currently on the lookout for more good bluegrass, alt-country and flamenco. I like some good dirty rock and quirky indie. And cheesy metal is always awesome. I have a lot of hair I can throw around, after all. Aside from that, surprise me! I like new stuff, yes.

212margarita, I would be happy to get a CD with ODB on it. That would make my day, possibly my week even. I'm with Stevedave, the point of a mix is to be introduced to new music.

If you get me, I'm currently on the lookout for more good bluegrass, not doing the cd exchange this year but wanted to let you know about a band from St. Louis called The Monads that play bluegrass the way The Pogues play traditional Irish music. they also play at the club that THS/The Thermals played in 2007. it always makes me happy when i go to this club because someone has written THS in multiple places on the way to and in the restrooms. www.myspace.com/themonads

I'm glad that the person who got my exchange mix CD last year is still playing it.
I think that it should be mix of old familiar stuff & some obsure bands. I'm already working out my track listing. How sad is that!!
