Does anybody have an idea what Rig Tad used on 40 Bucks? It sounds to me like a Stratocaster or something with single-coils or P-90s. I suppose it could be a Les Paul Junior?
Just thoughts from another guitar nerd...

That's kind of what I thought, but it sounded really sweet and crisp. Maybe it was through the Super Reverb?

Tad has been endorsed by Gibson since at least the BAGIA days, so I doubt it's a Strat- however, Craig's got at least one Tele and Tad used one in the early days.
My guess would be something with P-90s. There are several suspects in the rogue's gallery: at least one LP Junior (Craig plays one quite a bit- the Billy Joe Armstrong model, I believe), a couple of LPs, and Craig had a Casino during the BAGIA tour... Once again: Jonesie, where you at?

He could likely still play whatever guitar he wants in the studio. Typically endorsement deals only cover public appearances.

Hmmm.... It sounds like it could be a Neck P-90. It's smooth but kinda jangly....Too thick for a strat though.

If you've got easy, ready access to one specific brand, it makes sense that it's going to be more likely in use than a competitor. I strongly doubt Michael Jordan goes home from a day of shooting Hanes underwear commercials and slips into a pair of Jockeys, though it's always possible.

I bet Jordan doesn't wear either brand he likely wears some ultra high end silk or egyptian cotton brand that cost more than the suit I was married in.

I would much rather be Koob than Jordan.

But, a P-90 is probably the proper guess. Anybody ever played through a PRS with their soapbar P-90s? It kills.

Jay Tursers have more soul than those things. Really? I used to hate them because every talentless nu-metal hack would tune them to a warbly drop-d and lay a finger across the frets with no lead work, but I've come around. I had been wanting a P-90 guitar for the longest time and I played one of the PRS SE Soapbar Singlecuts and I loved it. The difference in pick-ups, the noise-cancelling (believe me, I love my tube hum...) when in the middle position, the beveled neck joint, the bridge and the price tag made it a no-brainer for me. I've been playing it through a 1964 (or 68) Sears Silvertone 1484 and it is Rock and F'ing Roll! The crazy reverb on the 1484 helps, but I love the straight rock tone that I get. I also have a real old 1-3 watt tube amp and I think the PRS brings out all of its sweetness. What's your guitar set up of choice?

Currently I've been using my Gibson Faded SG a lot. But I love my Tele too. My amp is a handmade Tweed Deluxe clone. They both have a Bigsby B5, the SG's is attatched with a Vibramate. The SG has a GFS Alnico Minihumbucker in the Neck and a 70's Bill Lawrence L-560 Minihumbucker in the bridge. The Tele has a Fender Atomic Humbucker in the neck, and a Texas Special in the bridge.

You said, "Faded" SG, is that one of the faded types that Gibson started releasing a few years ago? Or is it an older, faded Gibson? I didn't remember the yellow looking that way, but it looks like a sweet little thing. I dig the chicken heads, I did that with a strat of mine. What type of tubes do you run through the clone? I've been thinking about doing some experimenting with an amp or two of mine. It's good to meet other guitar guys.

Who did they record it with? A lot of producers have superb guitar collections.
But he does have "Lawless", the P-94 fitted LP.

The Deluxe right now is running 6V6's.
The SG is a 2007 Faded SG, I got it in a trade earlier this year.
And I bought the Tele when I was 10. The only stock part left is the body. Everything else has been replaced, hah
